After starting his NFL career as Patrick Mahomes’ top target with the Kansas City Chiefs, Tyreek Hill became famous as a top-class receiver. Nevertheless, after just a few seasons, he joined the Miami Dolphins. Since then, the Chiefs have won back-to-back Super Bowls, while Hill’s luck has remained restricted in the playoffs.
Meanwhile, after being a vocal supporter of his former team, the star player again sparked speculation after sharing his honest take on Jayden Waddle’s trade rumors.
Tyreek Hill’s recent remarks spark Dolphins exit
Trade rumors surrounding Dolphins pass rusher Waddle intensified after ESPN’s Mike Tannenbaum suggested a hypothetical deal, proposing a swap with Chiefs safety Trent McDuffie. Amidst this speculation, Tyreek Hill’s recent remarks on social media have ignited talks of his potential exit from the Dolphins.
Hill endorsed Waddle as the ideal partner for Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa on social media, emphasizing their chemistry and potential success together. However, his statement hinting at his departure stirred discussions about his future with the team.
“Him and Tua was special before me and will be special after I leave,” he wrote in X.
His tweet came as a surprise for his fans, as the player himself shared his happiness with his Dolphins’ career after his trade request. His offseason trade request from the Kansas City Chiefs was driven by a desire to be compensated as the NFL’s best wide receiver.
The Dolphins later acquired him in a significant trade involving five draft picks, subsequently extending him with a four-year, $120 million contract before the 2022 season.
Since joining the Dolphins, the receiver has achieved remarkable success, earned consecutive First-Team All-Pro honors and led the league in receiving yards during the 2023 season.
Tyreek Hill on Jaylen Waddle trade
In response to Waddle’s trade speculation, Tyreek Hill posted multiple tweets to express his disapproval while emphatically defending Waddle’s value by commending his prowess. Cheetah asserted that the young receiver surpasses his own achievements at a similar stage in their respective careers.
“My boy waddle is the future , he is better than I was at this point in his career and for people in this fan base to want to trade him is ludicrous”, he wrote.
The statistics indeed paint a promising picture for Waddle. He has amassed over 1,000 receiving yards in each of his first three seasons, mirroring Hill’s impressive start in the NFL. Despite Cheetah’s illustrious career, Waddle edges him in both total receptions and receiving yards across their initial 47 games.
Waddle’s contributions to the Dolphins’ offense are undeniable, as evidenced by his impressive performance this past season. The young star recorded 72 receptions for over 1,000 yards and four touchdowns in that campaign.
Waddle now stands at a juncture in his career, entering the final year of his rookie contract with the potential for a lucrative extension waiting on the horizon. Given the rise of cap hits this year, the Dolphins might look forward to locking him up with a blockbuster contract.
