UFC commentator casts doubt on Conor McGregor’s Octagon return amidst Notorious’s latest failure

Joe Rogan provided valuable insights into the reasons behind Conor McGregor’s extended absence from the Octagon since his last fight in July 2021, which was against Dustin Poirier at UFC 264 that ended with a severe leg injury for McGregor.

The UFC had hoped for McGregor to re-enter the USADA testing pool, a crucial step for fighters preparing for a return to the Octagon. McGregor was expected to face Michael Chandler in late 2023.

Joe Rogan questions McGregor’s UFC comeback

Rogan shed light on one of the major factors contributing to McGregor’s prolonged absence from the octagon. He emphasized that if it were not for the injury, The Notorious would likely still be in his fighting prime. It also needs to be noted that returning to peak form after such a severe injury is a monumental challenge.

Rogan acknowledges that successful comebacks after such injuries are rare. However, he also points out that McGregor possesses exceptional abilities, which once made him the first simultaneous double champ in the UFC. Nevertheless, he underscores the daunting nature of recovering from a leg injury.

Despite the considerable odds, Joe expressed optimism and hope for McGregor’s return to the octagon, describing it as a potential incredible story. Rogan views McGregor’s leg injury as a significant hurdle to his return to the Octagon but remains hopeful and supportive of the fighter’s potential comeback.

Conor McGregor fails to impress with new punch machine score

During his time away from the Octagon, Mystic Mac has engaged in various activities to maintain his presence in the public eye. Notably, he was seen showcasing his punching power on an arcade-style punch machine.

In the video, the Irish fighter used his left hand to deliver a powerful hook to the punch machine, achieving a score of 860. He had earlier scored north of 900 in the machine preluding his boxing bout with Floyd Mayweather Jr. The variance in scores on an arcade game may not necessarily signify a significant decline in McGregor’s form or abilities. However, some observers have noted this slight difference in the punching power of The Notorious.

Dana White has come forth and said that the Irishman would most likely face Michael Chandler in an early PPV event in 2024. However, alleged steroid use is presumed to be preventing the return of the Irishman. Both Chandler and McGregor are coming off losses to Dustin Poirier.
