UFC icon Conor McGregor jokes to get in the ring with Cristiano Ronaldo for whopping $250,000,000 fight purse

Conor McGregor, one of the biggest stars in UFC history, has not fought since July of 2021, when he broke his leg in a fight with Dustin Poirier at UFC 264. Nevertheless, the former two-division champion still has his luster even after two years away from the octagon.

With UFC 300 fast approaching, fans expect a potential announcement by the UFC of McGregor’s return. After his stint as coach in the Ultimate Fighter Season 31 against Michael Chandler, the Irishman was speculated to fight Chandler in December of 2023.

Conor McGregor is one of the richest athletes in the world and he even topped the Forbes list of highest-paid athletes in 2021. In 2023, Portuguese football superstar, Cristiano Ronaldo topped the Forbes list with $136 million earnings. Back in 2021, McGregor made $186 million.

McGregor was seated next to Cristian Ronaldo cageside to watch the boxing event billed as ”Day of Reckoning’, headlined by Anthony Joshua and Otto Walin. Their interaction went viral on social media, particularly the part where McGregor went on a rant against the Filipino Slugger, Manny Pacquiao.

In a recent tweet, “The Notorious” Conor McGregor hilariously insinuated the price for a matchup between McGregor and Ronaldo. “😂😂 $250,000,000 a fight 😂😂”, tweeted McGregor with a picture of the duo laughing. A fight between McGregor and Ronaldo would never happen and the tweet was a subtle hint to the possibility of it.

McGregor and Ronaldo were also in attendance to watch ‘Battle of the Baddest’, headlined by Tyson Fury and Francis Ngannou. Ronaldo was acquainted with the Cameroonian fighter in Riyadh, much to the surprise of Ngannou. The duo was among the many celebrities and legendary combat sports athletes present to witness the event.

Conor McGregor and Cristiano Ronaldo have a friendship stemming from the time when the Irishman met the footballer before his fight with Nate Diaz at UFC 202. McGregor, along with Dillon Danis hung out with Ronaldo and even crashed the birthday party of Jennifer Lopez where only Ronaldo was invited.

At the time of the meeting, McGregor was in the top 30 of the Forbes richest athlete list and Ronaldo was at the top. It needs to be noted that McGregor even predicted that he would overtake the footballer – a prediction that came true in 2021. The pictures of McGregor with Ronaldo circulated widely on the internet.

However, despite his friendship with the Irishman, Ronaldo is more intimate with Khabib Nurmagomedov, the biggest rival of McGregor. Nurmagomedov even had inside information about Ronaldo’s transfer. Moreover, Ronaldo even predicted a victory for the Dagestani fighter at UFC 229.
