UFC Nashville: Cory Sandhagen seeks title shot next against winner of Aljamain Sterling vs Sean O’Malley after victory vs Rob Font

In a remarkable showcase of MMA skills, Cory Sandhagen delivered a dominant performance during the UFC Nashville Fight Night. After his impressive victory, Sandhagen wasted no time in expressing his demand for a title shot in his next fight.

Currently Aljamain Sterling holds the bantamweight title. The Funk Master defeated Henry Cejudo to defend the gold strap and is scheduled to face Sean O’Malley on UFC 292.

Cory Sandhagen defeats Rob Font

At Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee, a fierce battle took place between the bantamweight division’s number 4 and number 7 ranked fighters. Throughout the match, Cory showcased his dominance, taking control from the opening bell until the very end.

The Sandman faced off against Rob Font, securing a convincing win via unanimous decision (50-45, 50-45, 50-45). With this triumph, the bantamweight superstar extended his winning streak to three consecutive victories.

Cory Sandhagen wants the title shot next

A day before Fight Night, Sandhagen openly expressed his dissatisfaction with O’Malley, the next potential title challenger in the bantamweight division. The Sandman criticized the number one contender, stating that he finds Suga’s approach “super lame” and cannot relate to the idea of seeking easy opponents for financial gains, as O’Malley allegedly does.

In contrast, Sandhagen firmly believes that top fighters should aim to face the best if their goal is to become the true world champion. Following the Nashville victory, the 31-year-old fighter has issued a warning to both Sterling and Sean.

“I wanted to put a more exciting fight on. I’ve been dealing with a lot of elbow problems recently, and I think I tore my tricep in the first round. I’m a wrestler now, apparently. Sterling and O’Malley, I’ll see you guys in Boston. I’ve got next.” Cory said.

Sandhagen’s critical remarks towards Sean O’Malley are understandable due to O’Malley’s previous statement. Sugar has expressed that if he becomes the champion by defeating Sterling, he won’t grant a title shot to The Sandman. This likely influenced Sandhagen’s recent comments and may have prompted him to speak out against O’Malley’s approach.
