Undefeated Strawweight Tatiana Suarez signs with Dominance MMA

Zhang Weili made easy work of Yan Xiaonan in the co-main event of UFC 300 in an all-Chinese female fight. After the loss, Xiaonan moved down to second in the UFC’s official strawweight rankings which now has the undefeated Tatiana Suarez in the number one spot. Suarez has recently signed with Dominance MMA of Ali Abdelaziz who has a plethora of champions and contenders in his stable.

MMA Fighting’s Damon Martin was the first to report the news. “Ali tells me he’s going to structure Tatiana’s next camp to make sure she stays healthy and it will be more like a boxing style training camp built around her,” tweeted Martin about Abdelaziz’s plans with Suarez. The strawweight has been injury-prone and even had an almost 4-year layoff before she fought twice in 2023.

Nicknamed the ‘Female Khabib’, Suarez has already finished the likes of Carla Esparza and Jessica Andrade, the ex-champions of the strawweight division. Moreover, she had also finished Alexa Grasso, the current flyweight champion, when the Mexican was in the lower weight class.

With no viable contenders left, the chances are high for Suarez to be the next strawweight title challenger. Becoming a two-division champion in MMA is tough and becoming a three-division champion is even tougher. With the style that Suarez has, there is a big chance that she could become the first three-division UFC champion.

Ali Abdelaziz high on Tatiana Suarez

Ali Abdelaziz has the likes of Islam Makhachev, Kamaru Usman, Henry Cejudo, Justin Gaethje, Gilbert Burns, Kayla Harrison, and other elite fighters in his stable. Nonetheless, the manager seemed excited to work with his new signee, Tatiana Suarez. He even went on to predict something very wild about the future of Suarez.

“I’ve been training with Tatiana for a year and a half now. She will make history by winning the bantamweight title nd the flyweight title”, tweeted Abdelaziz on X. The idea of winning the flyweight belt is plausible because she submitted the current flyweight champion, Alex Grasso.

However, winning the bantamweight title would be very tough as Kayla Harrison made her debut in style and the retired Amanda Nunes has flirted with a comeback. Without Harrison and Nunes, the chances are very much in Tatiana Suarez’s favor if she chooses to do so.

Nonetheless, all these plans can also come to fruition if Suarez dethrones Zhang Weili, the UFC’s strawweight champion. Abdelaziz is known to make outrageous remarks about his fighters but his recent claim about Suarez is not far-fetched, considering her accomplishments.
