Victor Wembanyama has been smashing it so far in his NBA rookie season. The 20-year-old French export’s stocks have only gone upwards since his 2023 draft. The Spurs rookie has already earned his first NBA All-Star game selection in his debut season and it seems like it won’t be his last.
With great power come great responsibilities and in the case of Wemby, with great fame come great endorsement deals. The Frenchman has already been flocked by global brands with lucrative contracts but which brands have signed the 7’4″ center?
How much does Victor Wembanyama earn through endorsements?
Louis Vuitton
With a massive 3.6 million followers on Instagram, there isn’t any better rookie athlete in the NBA for marketing purposes. Starting with his most recent endorsement deal, Louis Vuitton has tagged and bagged their man. The French wonderkid is now an ambassador for the French fashion giant. He has joined the likes of Carlos Alcaraz, Naomi Osaka and soon could be joined by Real Madrid star Jude Bellingham.
With the role, Wemby will be seen in LV’s promotional campaigns and events, along with increasing the value of the brand. While the correct figures of the contract are still unknown, given the global exposure and reputation, the figures could be anything in seven digits.
Nike
Even before taking the NBA court, Wemby was snapped up by the sporting accessories juggernaut, Nike. Wemby reportedly signed a $100 million contract with Nike last year and since then, has been a frequent feature in the brand’s promotional campaigns. This deal eclipses LeBron James’ $93 million deal signed in 2003.
3. 2K Games
The towering center can be an imposing figure on the court and in the virtual world of 2K games. According to reports, his deal with 2K is worth $3 million per year.
Barcode
The Spurs rookie has also signed a deal with one of the leading energy drink brands, Barcode. In July 2023, Wemby signed a deal with the company, which makes him an equity investor, along with commitments to assist with future product developments. Barcode is also co-owned by Kyle Kuzma, the Wizards forward. While the exact figures involved in the contract were not disclosed, the anticipated value is around $500,000 annually.
Fanatics
Wembanyama signed a contract with Michael Rubin’s trading card company, Fanatics. The deal is worth $5 million per year and will translate his rise to stardom from his rookie year via multiple editions of trading cards.
How much does Wemby earn at Spurs?
With the massive array of endorsements under his belt, Wemby’s primary focus has to be his NBA career. After being the first draft pick of 2023, Wembanyama penned a $55,174,766 contract until 2026–27. While the last two years have a franchise option, his first two years are guaranteed. In his first year, he is making $12,160,680.
The second year will see a slight increment to $12,768,960. Wembanyama’s contract handsomely outshines the rookie contracts of the previous year’s draft picks, Paolo Banchero and Cade Cunningham. Banchero’s contract is worth $50,158,769, while the Pistons guard got a $45,599,089 deal.
This season, Wemby has averaged a very healthy average of 20.5 points per game with 28.4 minutes in the tank. His 10 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 3.2 blocks are testament to his mastery of operating his lanky 7’4″ frame.
If Wembanyama keeps his momentum going and reaches his sky-high promise, then the NBA will have a megastar for years to come, just like Kevin Durant predicted.
