Vikings are planning to resign Pro-Bowl LB Anthony Barr as a potential replacement for Jordan Hicks’s injury

In the run of outrunning the Detroit Lions to top the NFC North and advancing their position in the playoffs, the Minnesota Vikings met some terrible shots, losing some key offensive and defensive players.  After losing their offensive duo Kirk Cousins and Cam Akers who has been fined lately, both in a season-ending Achilles injury, they let their defensive hope Jordan Hicks go, leaving him out of the roster for an unspecified time.

Meanwhile, Hicks’ injury paved the way for one of the team’s familiar players to kick off another stint in Minnesota, adding depth in the Vikings defensive line.

Vikings are planning to resign Pro-Bowl LB Anthony Barr

After including his name on the injured reserve list prior to the Vikings Week 5 game against the Kansas City Chiefs, Jordan Hicks suffered a serious injury in the Vikings 27-19 win Sunday against the New Orleans Saints. As concerns have been growing high that their leading tackler would likely miss their upcoming contest against the Denver Broncos, it’s not comfortable for the team to rest.

In the ways of finding the solution to this situation, they suddenly discovered that their first-round pick in 2014 might be a good fit. Per the report, the Vikings are looking forward to re-signing Anthony Barr.

As their first-round pick, the four-time Pro Bowler was in Minnesota for eight seasons. The Vikings cut their ties with Barr in 2022, making him a free agent. Following that, the former Vikings player signed with the Dallas Cowboys. As a member of the Cowboys, he appeared in 14 games, starting 10 of them. Nevertheless, his Cowboys career ended within just one season, leaving him a free agent again.

As Barr is a free agent this season, it is indeed a good opportunity for the Vikings to bolster their roster with one of their familiar and experienced weapons.

Jordan Hicks remains in hospital after leg surgery

The Minnesota team’s Week 10 game unfolded some serious issues before the fans regarding their vet linebacker. Jordan Hicks was forced to leave the game in the first quarter with a shin injury. After getting himself benched, the player again made his appearance in the second quarter, per AP News.

Albeit Jordan Hicks couldn’t survive long and left the field again in the third quarter. Later, the Vikings could not but rule the linebacker out for the remainder of the game as they didn’t want to aggravate the situation.

Following the game, Jordan Hicks was taken to a hospital and had a procedure to alleviate pressure from a contusion in his shin. Vikings coach Kevin O’Connell outlined details of their player’s injury on Monday, claiming it as a concerning matter that urged them to take initiative action.

“You can classify it as kind of a compartment syndrome-type thing where the pressure in that area, and the damage it can cause if not handled with the utmost level of concern like our guys showed, could have been something that could have been very serious.”

The team already has found a solution for Cousins, replacing him with Josh Dobbs, though he has been struggling to cope with the Viking’s team. Nevertheless, this might not happen with Barr who spent a plenty of time in Minnesota. If their move with Barr goes through ultimately, the team’s defense will also be out of danger, though the team still has kept his signing matter under wraps.

Do you think adding Barr will be a wise decision for the Vikings?
