He would have to waive his no-trade clause to make the way for a deal. However, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN, the QB will not waive the clause and will remain with the Vikings this season.
The veteran himself cleared his take on Wednesday, saying he is just aiming to secure a win against the Chicago Bears (1-4) to ensure a 2-4 mark for his franchise, and added any discussion except that is beyond his attention.
“You know, I am just very focused on the Bears and going 1-0 this week. And anything else is not worth my time or energy or attention.”
Head coach Kevin O’Connell has also affirmed his support for the signal-caller, recognizing his contributions and acknowledging the challenging circumstances the franchise faces. With his contract to void next March, only a mid-season comeback can potentially give make way for his prolonged tenure in Minnesota. Otherwise, the Vikings may not think twice to stab him, given their recent on-field struggles.
