Warriors HC claims Klay Thompson’s ejection was unacceptable, downplaying Draymond Green’s chokehold on Rudy Gobert during scuffle vs Timberwolves

The Golden State Warriors who started the season quite impressively with four wins from the first five games, have seen their form deteriorate, probably owing to the absence of Steph Curry due to injury. Recently, the Golden State Warriors achieved the headline in a fiery showdown against the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Amidst the recent scuffle between the Warriors and Timberwolves, which saw a shocking early ejection of two prolific Warriors stars and Timberwolves’ young forward, Warriors’ Head Coach Steve Kerr seems to disagree with the referees’ decision.

Warriors HC blasts referees’ decision

During the scuffle in the first quarter of the matchup between the Warriors and the Timberwolves, Draymond Green, Klay Thompson, and Timberwolves’ forward Jaden McDaniels were all ejected. While Green was seen grabbing Rudy Gobert in a chokehold and dragging him to the floor, multiple players struggled to separate them. Later during his press conference, Head Coach Steve Kerr had openly blasted the decision of the officials to eject his stars.

Steve Kerr insisted after he had seen the replay of the incident and the decisions against the Warriors stars were unjust. “There’s no way Klay Thompson should’ve been thrown out of the game…Guys on the back were telling me Rudy had his hands on Klay’s neck, that’s why Draymond went after him.”

Head Coach Steve Kerr defended Draymond Green’s actions of chokeholding and dragging Rudy Gobert by saying he acted in retaliation of Rudy having his hands on Klay Thompson. This however will not prevent the possibility of Green getting suspension for his part in the altercation, especially after dragging the Timberwolves’ big man.

Timberwolves beat Warriors

The Golden State Warriors’ recent matchup against the Minnesota Timberwolves which saw Klay Thompson and Draymond Green ejected ended in yet another loss for the Warriors. The game which started with an unexpected altercation in the early minutes, ended with the Timberwolves securing a 104-101 victory over the Warriors, which made it four straight losses for the Warriors.

While the early ejections of both Thompson and Green agreeably contributed to the loss, the presence of the star Steph Curry, who is out on injury, could have been probably significant. The Warriors who have certainly endured a rough start to the season, seeing their first 10 games being on the road, have now played two times against the Timberwolves in a difficult time, where they search for rotation combinations to achieve offense, defense, and energy.

However, if Draymond Green gets a suspension for his recent actions against Rudy Gobert, the Warriors could be seeing their losing streak extended.
