Alejandro Garnacho was Manchester United’s breakout star last season. With the team playing free-flowing football under Erik Ten Hag, Garnacho played the role of a ‘super sub’ perfectly, always coming off the bench to score important goals like he did against Fulham in the league and West Ham in the FA Cup.
However, this season has been quite difficult for the young Argentine, as United have struggled for consistency this season. With his team struggling for goals, Alejandro Garnacho scored a more sumptuous strike than Cristiano Ronaldo and Wayne Rooney with a crazy overhead kick goal against Everton on Sunday to help United win 3-0.
Alejandro Garnacho scores worldie
United traveled to Everton, who were playing for the first time after being hit with a 10-point deduction for breaking some Premier League rules. It was a hostile reception for the traveling team, as the home fans had scheduled a protest against the punishment they received, which they considered unfair.
Sadly for them, just three minutes into the game, United broke forward as Marcus Rashford slipped a pass to an overlapping Diogo Dalot on the right side. The Portuguese right-back, who recently became a father for the first time, played a timely cross into the Everton box and watched the magic happen.
Alejandro Garnacho, who was close to the goal, took a few steps forward and unleashed the best bicycle kick the world has ever seen into the far corner of the Everton goal, leaving Jordan Pickford helpless.
Nobody believed what was unfolding in front of them, and Garnacho only realized what a wonderous goal he had scored after a big cheer from the crowd. The 19-year-old did his idol’s ‘Siuuu’ celebration to emulate Ronaldo, who quickly saw Garnacho’s bicycle kick compared to the one he scored against Juventus in the Champions League.
Alejandro Garnacho, who wasn’t charged by a supposed offensive post he made on social media involving Andre Onana, has seen his goal compared to Wayne Rooney’s classic overhead kick against Manchester City, as Gary Neville claims Garnacho’s is better than any such goals he’s seen in his life.
Garnacho reacts to his wonder strike
The 19-year-old wowed everyone with his wondrous goal against Everton and quickly reacted in the post-match interview. “I couldn’t believe I scored it, to be honest. I didn’t see how I scored; I just listened to the crowd and said, ‘Oh my God’. One of the best goals I’ve scored; I’m very happy,” the young Manchester United forward said.
Gary Neville also reacted to the goal, saying, “I’ve never seen a goal as good as that from an overhead kick. I was there the day Wayne Rooney scored one against Manchester City, and that was an amazing goal, but today, I just like that (Garnacho’s goal) was something I’d not seen before.
“That’s gymnastics, that’s no football!” the former Manchester United captain added.
Alejandro Garnacho’s goal helped United secure a 3-0 win over Everton to be back in the top six. Marcus Rashford, who has been backed many times by manager Erik Ten Hag to get back to his absolute best, also scored one from the penalty spot, with Martial completing the hard-earned victory with a great one-on-one goal.
