What is Isaiah Thomas up to now?
Isaiah Thomas, once an influential player in the NBA and a top-five MVP candidate, has undergone a significant turn in his professional trajectory. His last NBA appearance was in 2021 with the Los Angeles Lakers as an injured substitute.
Thomas has recently demonstrated his scoring skills in minor leagues and G-League affiliate teams, averaging an amazing 43.1 points per game. Despite his age, he continues to strive to return to the NBA and is working hard in the gym.
Despite his 5-foot-9 size, Thomas consistently surpassed expectations after being taken as the last pick (60th overall) by the Sacramento Kings in 2011. In 2013, he averaged 20.3 points and 6.3 assists, gaining him reputation as a young star.
Thomas eventually thrived with the Boston Celtics. He was a two-time All-Star, joined the All-NBA second team, and placed sixth in MVP voting in 2017 with averages of 28.9 points and 5.9 assists per game. However, an acute hip injury cut short his lightning-fast rise, and he was traded from Boston.
Thomas has been unable to recapture his form since then, rotating between teams on short-term contracts and never obtaining a consistent team spot.
Thomas, like other NBA veterans such as DeMarcus Cousins, Dwight Howard, and Carmelo Anthony, wishes to return to the NBA. His tenacity and work ethic imply that he still has a lot to give, leading to supporters to ponder if he deserves another shot in the NBA.
