UFC Mexico turned out to be more than just an ordinary fight night, as fans engaged in some serious altercations. While thousands of fans were witnessing the action inside the cage, some emotional spectators got into a serious brawl where two fans were knocked out.
Brandon Moreno and Brandon Royval were featured in a rematch at this UFC Mexico event. In the co-headlining bout, Yair Rodriguez and Brian Ortega also competed in their rematch. However, ringside, some fresh fights were also captured by the camera.
A crowd brawl errupts at UFC Mexico
There were no knockout victories recorded in the main card of UFC Mexico. But there was someone in the arena who managed to secure not just one but two knockouts on his two opponents. The night where Yair Rodriguez promised to deliver the victory so that he could put his hands on Ilia Topuria’s newly won featherweight belt, some fans got into a brawl before the result announcement.
Manuel Torres, in his hometown, defeated Scottish Chris Duncan via submission. Not just two, but many fans in attendance started the brawl. At Mexico City Arena, a man dressed in full black clothes knocked two of his opponents to the ground with knockout punches.
This brawl delayed the fight announcement, and Bruce Buffer couldn’t concentrate on announcing the results of the first bout of the main card. As observed in the surfaced viral video, the brawl seemed to be caused by excessive alcohol consumption. The man dressed in white with a bald appearance wasn’t able to throw even a single punch.
A similar brawl happened at UFC 289
At UFC 289, a similar incident occurred as at UFC Mexico, where not only a fight inside the cage excited viewers but also a fan fight made headlines. According to sources, at Rogers Arena in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, Amanda Nunes fought in a UFC cage for the last time against Irene Aldana.
However, on the cage side prior to the main event, when Mike Malott was making his way to the cage, he faced some disturbance. Just like UFC Mexico, for Mike Malott, it was a hometown matchup in Canada, where he was about to face Adam Fugitt.
The fans’ excitement crossed the limit, and the railing collapsed, causing some fans to fall in the way of Mike’s entrance. Later, one more incident was recorded where the same alcohol-influenced brawl erupted, and fans started throwing punches at each other.
There was such absolute chaos that even outside the UFC 289 Arena, fans were fighting with each other. Though the situation did get under control when security intervened, brawls like these showed how much fans love MMA.
What do you think fans will get to see when another Home Ground event gets highlighted for brawls like UFC Mexico did?
