The Philadelphia Eagles, led by Jalen Hurts, have emerged as the most formidable team in the 2023 NFL season. Till now, they are the only team to have had one loss this season, with their lone defeat coming against the New York Jets.
Besides listing his name alongside the elite quarterbacks, Hurts has been doing everything possible on the offensive side to push the Eagles towards an upward trajectory. The recent match against Patrick Mahomes’ Kansas City Chiefs was one of the most intense matchups for them to solidify their position, and they successfully overcame the hurdle by smashing the defending champion in week 11.
Jalen Hurts and Patrick Mahomes embrace at full-time
Months ago, the wallpaper on Hurts’ phone went viral, which was of his own picture following Philly’s Super Bowl loss to the Chiefs. The snap proved how the signal-caller has been preparing and forcing himself to avenge the loss of the Lombardi Trophy. Apart from winning the Super Bowl this season, a win against the defending champion could heal him for a while.
Hurts and Co. didn’t miss the chance in the contest, as they defeated the Mahomes team 21-17. However, the rivalry among players should be limited to the field, and both QBs of the top two teams should know as well. Following the high-voltage match, the Philly signal-caller proceeded towards Pat and had a friendly hug with him.
The Eagles proceeded to a 9-1 mark with the Week 11 win, while the Chiefs had to be happy with 7-3. However, both teams are leading their division, and the upcoming contests will only determine if any of these two teams can earn the playoff race this season.
Jalen Hurts leads Eagles to victory against Chiefs
The Chiefs reportedly had the potential to secure a win from the Eagles in Monday’s match, and they indeed showcased dominance as they ensured a 10-point halftime lead. Despite having a 17-7 advantage, the Chiefs were shut down in the final 30 minutes of the campaign.
Jalen Hurts couldn’t capitalize on opportunities at the start of the campaign and was sacked five times by the Chiefs defense. However, he bounced back with his “tush push” strategy and dropped a 41-yard completion into the arms of his wide receiver DeVonta Smith to secure a goal for Philly, via AP News.
The QB also showcased excellence by scoring the much-needed touchdown to give the Eagles their first lead of the game. He recorded 150 passing yards and added two crucial rushing touchdowns.
The Chiefs were on the verge of turning the match in their favor on their final possession. However, Pat’s long-range pass aimed toward Marquez Valdes-Scantling was unfortunately dropped by the receiver at Philly’s goal line, and they left the field with a four-point loss.
