Watch: Jurgen Klopp shuts down “ignorant” journalist in awkward press conference following Liverpool’s dominant victory against Sheffield United

Jurgen Klopp is one of the most level-headed managers when it comes to media handling in the Premier League. Unlike Guardiola, who doesn’t always have the right words in his arsenal, Jurgen Klopp always chooses his words carefully and even takes his time to joke with journalists in press conferences whenever he can.

It was surprising to see the Liverpool manager bite back at a journalist yesterday following Liverpool’s 2-0 victory over Sheffield United in the Premier League to go two points behind league leaders Arsenal as the title race gets trickier just 15 games into the new Premier League season.

Jurgen Klopp fires shots at journalist

Jurgen Klopp, who is usually friendlier with the press, was involved in an awkward post-match interview with a journalist following his side’s 2-0 victory over Sheffield United. The journalist was trying to highlight the mentality of Klopp’s team and how they’ve been going strong in the league.

Unfortunately, he sarcastically talked about Liverpool’s upcoming match against Crystal Palace on Sunday, citing the early kick-off time of 12:30 pm, which Liverpool have been more involved in than any other Premier League side.

“That’s really great to make a joke about that, really,” Klopp said, still wearing a smile but visibly unhappy about the journalist’s statement.

“We have two sessions, so it’s fine to recover then we go again. Crystal Palace played tonight as well, it’s just not us, but I realize you don’t understand it as well, even when you work in football, so why should I try to explain again?” Klopp asked.

“If you make a joke of that, it means we’re just completely ignorant, but it’s good,” he continued.

Despite the journalist’s best efforts to explain to the former Mainz manager that he meant no disrespect with his statement, Klopp went on with his rant.

“It’s just one of those issues that come up, and I’m not trying to be disrespectful,” the presenter explained.

“You were already,” Jurgen Klopp responded. “It’s good. You can say what you want. It’s just that I cannot say what I want because that would be really different.”

Klopp didn’t leave until he threw a final dig at this journalist after the media rep seemed to be wishing his team good luck against Crystal Palace on Sunday.

“Yeah, and you will tell that to Crystal Palace as well; thank you very much,” Klopp rounded up.

Jurgen Klopp’s Reds have been fixed for the 12:30 pm kick-off four times already this season, which kind of makes Klopp’s annoyance understandable.

Liverpool beat Sheffield United

Liverpool recorded a 2-0 win over Sheffield United to maintain their incredible form of a five-game unbeaten run, winning three of those five games and drawing the remaining two. The Reds have been one of the best teams in the Premier League so far, with Mo Salah leading the attack.

Virgin van Dijk scored Liverpool’s opener in the 37th minute, and it took the Reds the rest of the game to find their second through summer signing Dominik Szobozslai.

This was a great win for Klopp’s men, whose side lost to Tottenham earlier this season in a controversial encounter. Jurgen Klopp has been involved in high-profile rants involving VAR in the past few seasons, but he provided a vital assessment after a blunder cost them two points against Tottenham.

Liverpool, who are reportedly prepared to lose Mo Salah next summer to Saudi Arabia, will benefit from a great run of form this festive period, which could put them in a solid position to claim the league title for the second time in four seasons.
