Texas A&M vs. Incarnate Word turned into a wrestling battlefield where almost all the players were involved in fistfights. The staff present at the venue had to get involved to keep the players from getting hurt.
The Southland Conference had to take strict action to instill discipline among the players. It was reported that a lot of players were suspended because of the incident and were subjected to serious disciplinary action.
Texas A&M vs Incarnate Word involved in mass brawl on court
Texas A&M was scheduled to face Incarnate Word on Monday night but the match went wrong and a massive brawl broke out. The brawl broke out at the handshake line and started with two players. It quickly escalates into a massive fight where more than thirty people can be seen, resembling a WWE Royal Rumble match.
The reason for the Star of the Brawl has not yet been unveiled, but people speculate that it started because of some trash talk.
The player receiving the trash talk should be tolerant and leave the events of the game on the court. However, as college students, they probably didn’t have the same level of maturity as the pros, hence causing a fight.
Southland Conference hands out suspensions to 8 players
The Southland Conference was quick to take disciplinary action against the players involved in the brawl. They handed out suspensions to eight players involved in the fight on the grounds of flagrant unsportsmanlike actions. Four players from each team were suspended, with the decision taking effect immediately. Ant Abraham, Jerome Brewer Jr., and Kwo Agwa from Texas A&M were suspended for three games, while their teammate Prince Davies received a one-game suspension.
Shemar Tuner who was ejected previously was safe from suspension in this brawl. For Incarnate Word, Alex Anderson, Marcus Glover, and Gabe Beny Til were each suspended for two games, while their guard Elijah Davis was handed a three-game suspension.
“The Southland Conference Board of Directors have a clear set of expectations for the sportsmanship and behavior of our student-athletes, spectators, and coaches during and after the competitions,” said Chris Grant, Southland Commissioner. Incarnate Word’s representative said that they would honor the decision of the SLC office and thanked them for handling the matter efficiently and with fairness. Texas A&M had nothing to say about the suspension and remained silent.
