Watch: Will Ospreay vs Claudio Castagnoli’s Epic Finale at AEW Dynamite

With the return of the IWGP World Heavyweight Champion, this week’s AEW Dynamite got off to a thrilling start. But the game-changer moment was Will Ospreay’s last-second counter to Claudio Castagnoli’s trademark finishing move which stole the show. Not to mention, Ospreay’s performance has gotten a lot better since he joined the AEW main roster.

AEW Dynamite this week featured Will Ospreay against Claudio Castagnoli, who is Danielson’s Blackpool Combat Club partner. Due to their continuous barrage of counters and unsettled pinfalls, both of them are riding high in this match.

Ospreay hit back with a backbreaker after Castagnoli went hard with the Ricola Bomb. Fighting back with elbows and high-flying strikes, Ospreay upped the stakes throughout the contest. He then kept up the pressure on Claudio by executing near-falls and trademark kicks. During the final showdown, Ospreay deftly evaded Claudio’s Giant Swing with a tornado DDT and sealed the victory with his trademark Hidden Blade move.

It was impossible to forget the 30-year-old’s act, especially during their match ending at AEW Dynamite. He stunned the crowd by reacting to Castagnoli’s “Big Swing” in the middle of the move. It’s one thing to counter a move before it happens but doing it while the move is in action is extraordinary.

After being amazed by this incredible counter, fans couldn’t stop talking about it online. Surprisingly, everyone seemed to enjoy Ospreay’s counter-DDT move, as there was no negative reaction.

Fans cheer Will Ospreay’s jaw-dropping counter on AEW Dynamite

Following the AEW Dynamite episode, it’s worth noting that Will Ospreay achieved a remarkable feat by being the first and only wrestler to counter Claudio Castagnoli’s giant swing.

Claudio has employed this characteristic technique against opponents for almost a decade, and Will has become the template for how to dodge it.

While praising the match’s overall quality, Ryan Avedisian used the word “great” to describe it. Another Twitter user, FirstNameJ0hn, praised the difficulty of executing the counter to the giant swing by noting, “That took incredible core strength to pull off. Another fan, April Rae, noted she can’t stop her to watch the counter attack multiple time. She gushed, “That ending was absolutely mind-blowing! Can’t stop replaying it!”

Oh, hi, this is Md Robin Ahmed, a WWE fan and I everyday go through a slew of popular WWE stories on Sportszion. Watching Big Show's Showstopper was the beginning of my passion for WWE, though I have to say that his Chokeslam is not one of my favorite moves. Over time, my love for professional wrestling has intensified, mostly due to the Shield, and my all-time favorite wrestler in WWE is Big Dog. I would give everything to be able to be within a few feet of him to witness his iconic Superman Punch and Spear. My major is engineering, but I'm most happy when I'm doing something artistic that doesn't put me under any pressure. Watching them wrestle and discuss their matches is always fun for me. And I've finally discovered a career that gives me fun since it allows me to with my dream heroes lifestyle. So, Welcome! I'd love to hear from you on LinkedIn and Facebook.
