Devin Haney has decided to move up a weight class and fight Regis Prograis after being released from jail. Which means Haney most likely isn’t going to face Gervonta Davis or Shakur Stevenson anytime soon now.
Although a matchup between the current WBA super featherweight champion and the undisputed lightweight champion would have been a treat to watch for many boxing enthusiasts, it appears that such a thing won’t be happening as Haney has chosen a different path by challenging Prograis.

Devin Haney has formally requested the WBC to let him move up to the 140-pound division for a highly anticipated showdown against Regis Prograis, the super lightweight superstar.
At the same time, Haney aims to retain his lightweight belts even after moving up in weight. This potential matchup between two exceptional boxers has generated excitement among many boxing enthusiasts.

In his recent bout at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, Haney secured a unanimous decision victory against Vasiliy Lomachenko, further solidifying his place in the lightweight division.
Lomachenko, Haney’s recent opponent, shared his thoughts on the possibility of Haney fighting Gervonta Davis, stating that it would not happen as Haney now understands his level and is likely to compete against boxers in the 140-pound weight class.

That is exactly what Dream seems to have decided to do now by going up a weight class and ignoring Shakur and Tank. It’d be interesting to see how he performs against one of the finest boxers of the super lightweight division.
Devin Haney paid $35k to get out of jail for alleged firearm charges
The 24-year-old got arrested a couple of weeks ago at midnight. After being charged with felony possession of a concealed weapon, the boxing star with a 30-0-0 record, got released several hours later.
The WBC, WBO, WBA, and IBF belt holder had to pay a $35,000 bond to get out of prison. However, he’s now scheduled to be present at the court on the 3rd of August. According to Devin’s father Bill Haney, the incident was nothing else but a misunderstanding.
“It’s a misunderstanding that will be solved when Devin goes to court. It’s unfortunate that he was arrested with his armed licensed security, and I’m confident things are going to be worked out.” Bill said.
Devin Haney was arrested and booked for felony possession of a concealed weapon. Jail records show he was released at 8:12 AM Thursday on $35,000 bail. He's due in court for a hearing on the matter next month.
