WWE founder Vince McMahon was accused by a former employee of being involved in s*x trafficking in the company. The allegations were made by Janel Grant, who revealed that Vince trafficked her to other men inside and outside of the Stamford-based company.
WWE fans are taking to social media to share their view on this matter and are debating the dark side of the company as well as what it entails. Recently, a lawyer explained the consequences that Vince McMahon may face if he is proven guilty of his crime.
What punishment will Vince McMahon receive if proven guilty?
Vince McMahon of the Attitude Era and Ruthless Aggression Era made a lot of controversial decisions, and at that time, sex was a regular occurrence on the main roster. Some old videos of CM Punk and Mr. McMahon have been circulating on the internet after the allegations were made public. Now after so many years, those decisions have come to bite Vince, as Jael Grant, a former WWE staff, has accused the company’s founder of s*x trafficking allegations.
Interestingly, some fans are asking about the punishment Vince McMahon will receive if proven guilty. Lawyer Dmitriy Shakhnevich, not so long ago, shared with ‘Sportskeeda’s UnSKripted’ that there are two phases for Mr.McMahon’s punishment.
Shakhnevich said, “So these kinds of cases are separated generally into two phases. There is a liability phase and there’s a damages phase. The liability phase is designed to determine what happened, and what he did wrong. If you pass that phase, you get to the damages phase. Which seeks to determine how much the extent of the damage is… It’s entirely too premature to make that kind of determination, as you can imagine the complexity behind the degree of suffering, and the range of suffering that somebody like this can go through, ranges, just enormously.”
How did Vince McMahon’s lawsuit affect the WWE-TKO deal?
Vince McMahon’s lawsuit has massively affected his position in the WWE and its parent company, TKO Group Holdings. According to Sean Ross Sapp, Nick Khan, the President of WWE, sent the news to his staff that Mr.McMahon has resigned from his post and from the board of directors of WWE/TKO.
Before his resignation, Vince shared his take on this lawsuit in an interview with Deadline and disclosed some information about this controversial scandal. He said, “I stand by my prior statement that Ms. Grant’s lawsuit is replete with lies, obscene made-up instances that never occurred, and is a vindictive distortion of the truth. I intend to vigorously defend myself against these baseless accusations, and look forward to clearing my name.”
“However, out of respect for the WWE Universe, the extraordinary TKO business and its board members and shareholders, partners and constituents, and all of the employees and Superstars who helped make WWE into the global leader, it is today, I have decided to resign from my executive chairmanship and the TKO board of directors, effective immediately,” added Vince.
Although the WWE founder has made the company what it is today, it has to be added that the allegations of rape, defecation, and sex trafficking are affecting the image of the company. Superstars like Cody Rhodes shared their take on the case. While some fans find the crime to be the truth, others are waiting for the trial to start to see how this impacts the legacy the McMahon family created.
