No football fans can easily forget the Buffalo Bills star Damar Hamlin’s sudden collapse on the field last season after suffering cardiac arrest during “Monday Night Football”. The New England Patriots squad also went through a horrible moment during their preseason games against the Green Bay Packers as their rookie cornerback Isaiah Bolden suffered a scary injury.
The Patriots selected Bolden with the 245th overall out of Jackson State in the 7th round of the 2023 NFL Draft, marking him the only HBCU football player drafted by an NFL team in this year’s Draft. The Florida native earlier played on New England’s special teams unit returning kickoffs.
What happened to CB Isaiah Bolden?
Bolden was seen covering a pass toward the inside part of the field to tackle the Packers receiver Malik Heath before colliding with his fellow teammate Calvin Munson in the initial period of the fourth quarter. He immediately fell to the ground and remained motionless for several minutes as personnel from both teams headed to the scene and was later carted off the field.

The Patriots team later announced the young star had feeling in all his extremities, but he will remain hospitalized overnight for observation. The team’s head coach Bill Belichick asked for prayers for their 23-year-old defensive back and lauded the league for their instant response.
“We’re all saying a prayer for Isaiah. Appreciate the way the league handled it. I think that was the right thing to do.”
The Patriots coach Belichick and Packers coach Matt LaFleur jointly decided to suspend the game with 10:29 remaining in the fourth quarter. Meanwhile, New England plans to provide an update on their cornerback’s condition Sunday morning.
