What is the Netflix Cup? Everything to know about the F1-golf crossover sports event

What could be more intriguing than the fusion of two renowned sports? In the 15th century, modern golf originated, and centuries later, people still profusely engage in the sport in their leisure time.

Formula One, on the other hand, is an entirely different sport from golf. However, when these two sports unite, the outcome remains uncertain. The Netflix Cup has made it possible to witness this thrilling combination at a single venue this Tuesday.

What is the Netflix Cup?

A unique competition is set to unfold as the stars from the world of Formula One and golf come together as a whole. Netflix is hosting an event ahead of the Las Vegas Grand Prix called “The Netflix Club.”

The event will occur on Tuesday, November 14th, at Wynn Golf Club in Las Vegas. There will be an ongoing series of twists and turns as stars from “Drive to Survive” and “Full Swing” unite to compete against each other.

Both of these sports series are among Netflix’s favorite shows, which means that this significant event is bound to provide fans with highly enjoyable entertainment. Nonetheless, the presence of some thrilling pairs adds an extra layer to the viewing experience.

Everything to know about the Netflix Cup

When two sports intersect, abundant entertainment will always be available for the audience, and this event is certainly no exception. Representing Formula One, Lando Norris, Carlos Sainz, Alex Albon, and Pierre Gasly will all be participating to showcase their top-notch golfing abilities.

Norris is set to team up with Rickie Fowler, while Sainz will be collaborating with two-time major champion Justin Thomas. Gasly will be paired up with another double major winner in Collin Morikawa and Albon will play alongside Max Homa.

If we talk about the format, each of the four teams at the event will play eight holes of match play. After the match play concludes, the leading team from each foursome will engage in a playoff hole to determine the ultimate winner.

Every match will have a scramble format, where players take a tee shot on every hole. After choosing one of their drivers, both players will hit from that spot and repeat until completing each hole. The team that achieves the lowest score will win the hole.

On November 14, a “Watch Live” button will be accessible on Netflix at 2:30 p.m. PDT/ 5:30 p.m. ET, allowing you to enter a waiting room before the show. Once the live coverage starts at 3:00 p.m. PDT/ 6:00 p.m. ET, you’ll have the ability to rewind, pause and skip to the live edge of the tournament.

If you join the livestream late, you can either pick up from where the live coverage is or restart the Netflix Cup from the beginning. Only English subtitles will be available for the audience during the live event.
