AEW has officially become the home for wrestlers that part ways with their promotions. The CEO of AEW, Tony Khan, always tries to keep the AEW audience hyped by signing new superstars and making frequent announcements.
Khan has a history of making big announcements that have shaken up the wrestling world, such as signing CM Punk, buying Ring of Honor, and partnering with New Japan Pro Wrestling. Recently, the AEW fans are in excitement as the promotion officially confirms that Khan is ready to make his new announcement soon.
What will Tony Khan announce next week on Dynamite?
The next episode of AEW Dynamite could be a game changer for the company, as the CEO of All Elite Wrestling, Tony Khan, is set to make another announcement. This was confirmed on the January 31st episode of Dynamite and has created a lot of buzz among wrestling fans.
The reports confirm that Khan will announce the debut of Mercedes Mone, formerly known as Sasha Banks in WWE. She left WWE in late 2023 after a contract dispute and she has been a free agent ever since. If Khan announces that Mone has signed with AEW, it would be a huge boost for the women’s division and a major coup for the company.
The other possible announcement will be the introduction of new championships. AEW currently has four active titles and fans have argued that AEW needs more titles to create more opportunities and stories for the roster. A possible new title could be a trios title, which would suit AEW’s abundance of factions and stable wars.
Why did TK’s “big announcement” get postponed?
Tony Khan originally planned to make the big announcement on the January 31 episode of AEW Dynamite. But the announcers stated that Khan would make his announcement on the February 7th episode of AEW Dynamite.
Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer revealed the possible reasons for the last-minute changes to Khan’s announcement. He said, “They were originally going to make the announcement on Saturday, and then they realized that was probably not the best day to make the announcement, because with the Vince stuff, it was like, no-one’s gonna be talking about this.”
Meltzer also disclosed, “So it’s better to do the announcement at a time when people will be talking about the announcement rather than it get lost in the sleaziness of the Vince McMahon story that’s all over everywhere.”
Meltzer confirmed that the announcement was held off due to the ongoing ccontroversy of Vince McMahon, who is facing a sexual allegation from a former WWE employee.
Meltzer also answered the rumors of the debuts of Kazuchika Okada and Mercedes Mone. He confirmed that Khan’s announcement will consist of either one of these superstars, as they were rumored for a long time to join the company.
