Brock Lesnar is one of the most dominant and feared wrestlers in WWE history. He has conquered the likes of The Undertaker, John Cena, Roman Reigns, and many more in his illustrious career while being one of the most dominant heel superstars in the WWE.
Randy Orton, on the other hand, made his return to WWE in the Survivor Series wargames match after a 16-month break. He recently appeared on the IMPAUSIVE talk show hosted by Logan Paul and revealed some backstage details on Lesnar’s first practice session in WWE in early 2002.
Randy Orton talks on Brock Lesnar’s hilarious practice session
Randy Orton revealed some backstage details on Lesnar’s first practice session in WWE. Orton and Lesnar were both part of the famous OVW class of 2002, which also included John Cena, Batista, and Shelton Benjamin. Orton gave his first interview in a year on the IMPAULSIVE talk show, hosted by the United State Champion Logan Paul. Orton recalled how Lesnar impressed everyone with his strength, athleticism, and charisma.
Orton said “Oh yeah, oh yeah. I remember the day he [Lesnar] came to OVW… We were all like, what the f**k? So we’re all talking s**t, under our breath, and here he comes. And back then there wasn’t [a Performance Center], we had one ring in a warehouse, and there was like twelve of us. So here comes Lesnar, we knew he was coming… we get in practice, we start doing the rope running drills, where you just burn, you just go, and he didn’t hook the top rope”.
Orton also revealed how Lesnar was respectful and humble to everyone, despite his obvious talent and potential. He said, “He was very cool, very down to earth. He didn’t have an ego. He was always willing to learn and listen. He was a sponge. He soaked up everything that Jim Cornette, Danny Davis, and Rip Rogers taught us. He was a great student of the game.”
Orton’s interview sheds some light on the early days of Lesnar’s WWE career, and how he earned the respect and admiration of his peers. Lesnar is currently on hiatus from WWE, but rumors suggest that Lesnar might return at Royal Rumble 2024.
Randy Orton and Brock Lesnar’s bond
Randy Orton and Brock Lesnar are two of the most successful and decorated wrestlers in WWE history. They have both won multiple world championships, Royal Rumbles, and main-evented WrestleManias. But they also share a bond that goes beyond their achievements in the ring.
Orton and Lesnar started their careers in WWE around the same time, in 2002. They were both part of the famous OVW class of 2002, which also included John Cena, Batista, and Shelton Benjamin. They trained together, learned from each other, and became friends.
Orton and Lesnar also had similar paths to stardom. They both joined the main roster as young and promising talents, and quickly rose to the top of their respective brands. They both became the youngest world champions in WWE history, at the age of 25, facing and defeating some of the biggest names in the industry, such as The Rock, The Undertaker, Triple H, and Kurt Angle.
Orton and Lesnar also had some memorable encounters with each other. They faced off for the first time in 2002, when Lesnar was the Next Big Thing and Orton was a rookie. Lesnar dominated Orton and made him tap out to the Brock Lock. They met again in 2016, at SummerSlam, in a dream match that ended with a TKO victory.
Orton and Lesnar have a bond that is based on respect, rivalry, and friendship. They have both praised each other’s skills and accomplishments and have also challenged each other to bring out their best, having pushed the boundaries of WWE, and left a lasting legacy in the business.
