Anthony lost two of his most precious members of his family, his mother and grandmother in a mere timespan of eight months. Both his mother Yvette and grandmother Shirley were taken away from him because of cancer on the 5th day of a month in 2015 when Anthony was just 14 years old.
Edward said that the number 5 reminds him of where he comes from and what he has overcome over all these years. Coincidentally Anthony was also born on 5th of August 2001.
The young star took the loss courageously and worked his hardest to achieve his dreams. Anthony was really close to both his mother and grandmother and wanted to make them proud by doing something meaningful with his life. His brother and sister raised him after the demise of their guardians and helped him accomplish his goals. Anthony’s story is a real inspiration to many who aspire to be like him.
Timberwolves man gets special wall mural at Atlanta
Apart from a day being named after him, Anthony Edwards also received a special wall mural as a gift from his hometown Atlanta. The artwork is really beautiful which covers a big area on the wall and features Anthony, his mother and his grandmother.
This mural is also an honor for the Edwards family holding a special meaning for them. Edwards is a great personality, and everyone like him. Even the president of the Minnesota Timberwolves lauded the youngster saying, “He is just a great guy. He loves the city, he loves the organization, He and coach have a special bond. He is a positive teammate, which in this day and age is not always the rule.”
