Marc-Andre Ter Stegen is one of the longest-serving players in the current Barcelona squad. He joined the Catalan giants in 2014 from Borussia Monchengladbach and has made almost 400 appearances for the club he won the treble with in 2015 alongside other old guars like Gerard Pique, Lionel Messi, Andres Iniesta, and Xavi.
Coming off a great season last season, Marc-Andre Ter Stegen has endured a tough campaign this season, as injury problems have plagued him throughout the season. Thankfully, Barcelona fans now have a return date to look forward to, as the German international is set to return to action in the coming days.
Marc-Andre Ter Stegen return date revealed
“In two weeks, I could be ready. I’m feeling good,” Ter Stegen told reporters on Monday night at an award show.
With this return date, Ter Stegen could be back in action for Barcelona in a home game against Granada and another league match before the round of 16 clash against Napoli in the Champions League.
On his days, Ter Stegen is one of the best, if not the best, goalkeepers in the game. The German international joined Barcelona in 2014 and has been a pillar for the Catalan club since then. Through thick and thin, there’s one man you can always count on to deliver for Barcelona, and that’s Ter Stegen. His rock-solid presence at the back has delivered some good memories for Barcelona fans.
Sadly, people have not seen the best of him this season due to the back injury he suffered back in November. The goalkeeper was quickly ruled out for at least two months, and with more important games coming up in the next few weeks for Barcelona, the man himself has confirmed his return, much to the excitement of the fans.
Marc-Andre Ter Stegen named MVP of La Liga for 2022–23 season
Marc-Andre Ter Stegen has been rewarded for his superb performance and personal records for Barcelona last season by being named the MVP of the Spanish League for the 2022–23 season.
Ter Stegen’s performances last season helped Barcelona secure the La Liga title, the German’s fifth league title as a Barcelona player. Ter Stegen only conceded 18 goals in 38 appearances last season, which landed him the Zamora Trophy, given to the goalkeeper with the least goals conceded in the league by MARCA.
The German shot-stopper also finished the season with 26 clean sheets to equal Paco Liano’s La Liga record for the most clean sheets in a single season. All these things landed him the honor of the La Liga MVP for last season, as his exploits helped Barcelona win their first league title under Xavi, who recently accused Real Madrid of gaining favors from La Liga referees.
