Aaron Rodgers has already spent 18 seasons in NFL under the wings of his former team Green Bay Packers. In spite of his advancing age, the starting quarterback rather consistently embellished his position like a rookie player except for his last seasons with the team.
After boarding a new voyage with the New York Jets, many franchise fans were speculating to see his foot magic in the Big Apple, yet he did not appear in the Jets’ first preseason game.
Aaron Rodgers absent from the first preseason game vs the Browns
Initially, Rodgers looked to be in fantastic health and appeared ready to play in the Jets team’s inaugural game. However, the teams’ head coach Robert Saleh had a different plan and benched the majority of the Jets’ starters on Thursday.
Zach Wilson took over as the Jets’ starter for the first preseason game as Aaron prepared to watch from the sidelines. Unfortunately, they lost to the Browns in the Hall of Fame match 21-16 to start the preseason.
After beginning a new chapter with the Big Apple team in April, Aaron participated throughout the whole Jets training camp. In exchange for a $35 million salary cut, the 39-year-old just agreed to a renewed two-year, $75 million contract.
When will Rodgers feature in preseason action?
Being considered a crucial weapon of the team, A-rod has a record of not participating in preseason games since 2018. But this year the four-time MVP is expected to appear in the preseason game against the New York Giants as Saleh said before the match.
However, the head coach stated that Aaron would take the field only if the starters still needed additional practice. Aaron said that he “wouldn’t mind” playing against the Giants during a news conference and noted that he was not opposed to participating in a preseason game.
The Packers quarterback had a lackluster season in his final year with the team as he spent a large portion of the season playing with a broken thumb. However, since joining the Jets, he appears to be regaining his previous enthusiasm for the squad, which boasts both the offensive and defensive rookies of the year on its brilliant young roster.
