Max Verstappen has earned praise and applause throughout the season, as he hammered his way past every record set before him in 2023. In fact, the entire Bulls fanbase was surprised when he named his favorite races, because everyone expected him to glorify his achievements which has gained en route to his third Formula 1 title.
But amidst all the hustle and bustle of an electrifying season, Max Verstappen’s last victory in Formula 1 put him in the same leagues as F1 legend Michael Schumacher. Max able to achieve a unique milestone which sets him apart from a lot of drivers in Formula 1.
Verstappen joins Schumacher in exclusive F1 record
Max Verstappen was able to set the record of longest win streak this year after beating Sebastian Vettel, but he couldn’t continue it for very long as he lost to Carlos Sainz during the Singapore GP. Nevertheless, the Dutchman put aside his frustrations from Singapore and claimed victory in the remaining races of the season.
However, it was a unique moment in Max Verstappen’s career as he won 19 races of his season with two win streaks of 5+ races. After his comeback victory in the Japanese GP, Verstappen went to create another streak of consecutive wins which finally ended with the season end in Las Vegas.
In doing so, Max Verstappen was able to equal Michael Schumacher as no other driver in Formula 1 except Schumacher, ever had two win-streaks of 5+ races in one season. It’s absolutely mind-blowing considering the way Max Verstappen has ruled the Formula 1 scene this year.
During the Qatar GP, Verstappen won his third Formula 1 title making him the second driver to win a title on Saturday. Max Verstappen now holds two unique records to his name that put him a step above other racers on the grid and among all-time greats.
Max Verstappen wins his 184th race in Las Vegas
Max Verstappen has been around in Formula 1 for a relatively short time compared to the success he had in the pinnacle of motorsports. His rise to the top of table was extremely fast and within just a few years, Max was able to turn the tides for Red Bull giving them consecutive constructor championships, almost single-handedly.
He started off the Las Vegas GP in second row and engaged in a heated battle with Charles Leclerc for the lead of the race. Things weren’t going his way at all as the Red Bull ace garnered front wing damage with penalty.
It felt like the last race of the season would slip away from his hands, but Max Verstappen wasn’t ready to give up. In a brilliant drive he reclaimed the lead of the race and went to win the Las Vegas GP in his 184th race of the season, by leading 1000 laps in the whole season, almost 10 times more than his nearest rival.
Red Bull wants Sergio Perez to step up his game similarly or he may pave way for the Honey Badger to join Max Verstappen in their second seat.
