Cristiano Ronaldo is one of the world’s best strikers with an excellent goal record; he is, in fact, the player with the most goals. But he is about to face Abderrazak Hamdallah, a prolific goalscorer himself who has gone under the radar of most people.
This may be surprising, but many will be surprised that this Moroccan striker has an edge over the likes of Lionel Messi and even Cristiano Ronaldo. And now he will have the chance to show this in tonight’s league fixture.
Who is Abderrazak Hamdallah?
Abderrazak Hamdallah is a very proficient striker and plays for Saudi Pro League club Al Ittihad. He was born in Morocco in 1990 and is 33 years old. He began his youth career at Olympic Safi before moving to Norwegian side Aalesund, where he struggled due to the cold climate.
He also played for Chinese sides Guangzhou R&F and El Jaish in Qatar between 2014 and 2017. He would then play for three clubs in Saudi Arabia named Al Rayyan, Al Nassr, and Al Ittihad. He is noted to not have played more than 100 games for any club, with the highest being 74 appearances with Al Nassr.
Hamdallah made his debut for the Morocco youth team in 2010, before making the shift to the senior team in 2012 and scoring his first goal for them in 2013. He briefly retired in 2019 before making a return, and he was part of the Moroccan squad in the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
Hamdallah has established a reputation as a prolific scorer and has quite impressive records at every club. He can score quite consistently and has good technical ability as well. Thanks to his immense and deadly goal-scoring ability, many fans have nicknamed him “the Executioner”.
Ronaldo going head-to-head with Al-Ittihad’s prolific Hamdallah
Tonight, Abderrazak Hamdallah and Al Ittihad will have the chance to take on Al Nassr and Cristiano Ronaldo. Ronaldo has been very proficient this year and has scored 16 goals in just 15 Saudi Pro League appearances. Furthermore, he has 51 goals in this whole year already, which is an impressive feat.
But while Ronaldo may be a great player, he is still not going to beat Hamdallah in one aspect, which is not the only area he has been beaten. Hamdallah is also a lethal goalscorer, and he has scored an impressive 274 goals in 325 appearances. While this is nothing in the world of soccer, he has a better career goal ratio, standing at 0.84. This is better than the 0.81 goal rate by Lionel Messi and the 0.74 by Cristiano Ronaldo himself.
Abderrazak also scored 57 goals in 2019 for Ronaldo’s current club, Al Nassr, and Ronaldo may not be able to break it this year. While the Moroccan striker cannot be compared to Cristiano Ronaldo, a player who has transcended the sport itself, it is still impressive that he has a better record than Ronaldo.
Al Ittihad and Al Nassr will face off tonight in the Saudi Pro League, and it will be interesting to see the Executioner face off against one of the greatest of all time. Who will come out on top? Make sure to tell us your predictions in the comments section.
