Who is Amar’e Stoudemire?
Amar’e Stoudemire is an American-Israeli professional basketball coach and former player. Known for his time at the NBA and the Ligat HaAl, or the Israeli Basketball Premier League, Amar’e had an impressive career leaving a lasting impact on the game of basketball.
Stoudemire’s career as a basketball player was not easy way as till the age of 14, he did not play any organized basketball due to his family moving in and out and his mother facing problems with the law. After transfers between five high schools, Stoudemire finally hit the ground running and burst onto the scene as a high school player at Cypress Creek High School in Orlando, Florida, and became one of the most sought-after prospects in the country. Later in 2002, he was selected as the ninth overall pick in the NBA Draft by the Phoenix Suns which marked the beginning of a successful NBA career that would span over a decade.
During his time with the Suns, Stoudemire made a name for himself as one of the league’s premier power forwards. His combination of size, strength, and agility made him a force to be reckoned with on the court. Stoudemire’s ability to finish at the rim and his mid-range jump shot made him a difficult matchup for opponents.
In 2010, Stoudemire signed with the New York Knicks as a free agent. He quickly became a fan favorite, bringing a new level of excitement and energy to Madison Square Garden. While he played as a key contributor to the Knicks’ resurgence, he also helped them reach the playoffs multiple times during his tenure.
After his time with the Knicks, Stoudemire went on to play for the Dallas Mavericks, Miami Heat, and Hapoel Jerusalem in Israel. Despite facing injuries towards the latter part of his career, he continued to become a key asset to their team, providing leadership and experience both on and off the court.

Amar’e Stoudemire criticizes BLM supporters for not backing Israel
In a recent video, Amar’e Stoudemire expressed his disappointment with BLM supporters, suggesting that they had disregarded the struggles faced by the Israeli people. Stoudemire’s comments stemmed from his personal connections to Israel, as he has played basketball professionally in the country and has since converted to Judaism with a Rabbinical court on August 26, 2020.
Amar’e Stoudemire’s criticism stems from what he perceives as a double standard within the BLM movement, where he believes that supporters of the cause haven’t adequately backed Israel during the conflict with Hamas. While expressing his respect for the BLM movement and its fight against racial injustice, Stoudemire believes that it should also reflect on the principles of equality, diversity, and support for other communities around the world, including Israel.
Stoudemire contends that Israel, facing rocket attacks and threats to its existence, deserves unwavering support from those advocating for justice. He expressed a desire for BLM supporters to recognize the plight of the Israeli people and to promote peace, empathy, and understanding during these challenging times.
