Chelsea Green is making news again after making a magnificent yet funny comeback to WWE at Royal Rumble 2023, when she was out of the ring in less than 5 seconds. However, it is not due of her Tag Team title, but rather because of a scandal surrounding her injuries.
Green uploaded a picture of her injury yesterday, claiming that she is going to sue WWE because she believes the promotion’s management is to blame for her disability.
Who is Chelsea Green?
Chelsea Green aka Chelsea Anne Cardona is a Canadian professional wrestler, stuntwoman, and model currently performing in WWE under a contract. She appears on Monday Night Raw. Chelsea Green and Piper Niven are the current Women’s Tag Team champions. She took the inspiration to wrestle from Kelly Kelly.
Chelsea is married to former WWE superstar Zack Ryder aka Matt Cardona. Both pro wrestlers tied the knot in Las Vegas in 2021 after dating each other for almost four years. Before becoming famous as Laurel Van Ness in Impact Wrestling, she had performed in several other promotions before 2016. This includes independent promotions like ECCW, WWRS, and QOC. During that time she didn’t get her big break in the industry.
After trading blows in the ring of Impact Wrestling for two years, from 2016 to 2018, Chelsea signed a contract with WWE and worked for their third brand, NXT. During that time, she made small appearances on the Raw brand of WWE. After a successful run in NXT, Green was transferred to SmackDown.
However, she was released by WWE in 2021 due to a wrist injury. Following her release, she returned to Impact Wrestling and wrestled alongside her husband, Matt. Chelsea Green made a comeback to WWE earlier this year at Royal Rumble 2023 and is currently enjoying a successful career as a tag team champion.
How did Chelsea Green get injured?
On the last episode of WWE Monday Night Raw, Chelsea Green, and Piper Niven squared off against Zoey Stark and Shayna Baszler in a tag team match. However, the match didn’t do as planned due to the inference of the ferocious Nia Jax. Nia assaulted all of them one by one starting with Niven and ending with Chelsea. She obliterated all four of them within just two minutes.
Yesterday, the tag team champ got furious and took to X (formerly Twitter). She posted a picture of her injury with some serious notes, claiming that the bruise/hematoma on her elbow was noticed after the last episode of the Red Brand. She also warned WWE’s management team to prepare paperwork as she is going to take legal action.
