The NFL regular season is going in full swing, and all the franchises are involved in fierce competition to ensure a Super Bowl run this season. Week 4 of the 2023 season has already passed. and sports enthusiasts have witnessed some phenomenal victories as well as terrible defeats.
Besides the intense battle and some controversial altercations on and off the field, some NFL teams also boast strange trends. While some of these trends are interesting, some are very brutal. One such disgusting trend is making players laugh and cry on the same day, and the New York Jets Chris Glaser is the latest victim of it.
Who is Chris Glaser?
Chris Glaser, a three-star recruit out of high school, was originally projected to redshirt his freshman season in 2017 before it got marred by injuries. He possessed an all-ACC honorable mention back in 2020 and was named an honorable mention on the all-American team of Pro Football Network in 2021.
The young star kicked off his NFL journey by signing with the Kansas City Chiefs as an undrafted free agent out of Virginia. The Chiefs released him early on in training camp and he later enrolled in the Jets squad in August 2022 to spend most of his rookie season on their practice squad. He reunited with the Gang Green this summer to occupy a spot on their roster before getting released for the second time.
Chris Glaser received a birthday wish from the Jets before his release
Glaser’s birthday was on Sunday, but the Jets‘ Instagram conveyed the team’s wishes on Tuesday morning. However, the most intriguing turn of events was their decision to release him just five hours after wishing him. Whether the person in charge of Gang Green’s social media handle knew the move or not remains uncertain, but the timing was clearly brutal, and no player deserves this insult, at least in such a way.
The 24-year-old star along with offensive tackle Cedric Ogbuehi, and cornerback Nehemiah Shelton were released by the Big Apple in a move to add Kalon Barnes, Tae Hayes, and Craig James as cornerbacks to their practice squad.
Meanwhile, this is not the only such incident in the NFL as the Green Bay Packers pulled the same prank on their outside linebacker Jonathan Garvin in July by wishing him the 24th birthday in the morning and releasing him three hours later. The Cleveland Browns too followed the Packers’ footsteps by releasing offensive lineman Michael Dunn a few hours after sending him birthday wishes on social media.
