Who is Dom DiSandro going viral after getting in a scuffle with 49ers Dre Greenlaw?

The high-flying 10-1 Philadelphia Eagles’ Week 13 game added a second setback to their record of this season as they stepped down on the field to confront the San Francisco 49ers team they forced to digest a loss in last season’s NFC Title game. Though, in spite of last season’s loss, the 49ers’ Brock Purdy did not see it as a “revenge” game, one of the Eagles members, Dom DiSandro, could not pull himself together during the game.

DiSandro stirred controversy, arising an unwanted brawl in the field, for which John Lund saw it necessary to interfere and led DiSandro to recall his designation.

Who is Dom DiSandro?

Dom DiSandro is the senior advisor to the general manager and chief security officer for the Philadelphia Eagles. He has been serving the role for 25 seasons.

NBC Sports reported that in his bio on the Eagles’ website, DiSandro read, “oversees all safety and security matters for players, coaches, and executives. He also directs security at the team’s training complex, is responsible for security measures related to team travel and logistics and provides education on the NFL’s personal conduct policy.”

Meanwhile, the security officer’s name was not even known by most Eagles fans, yet a scuffle with Dom brought his name into the limelight following his team’s loss to the 49ers.

During the third quarter of Sunday’s game, Dre Greenlaw, a linebacker for the 49ers, received a penalty for forcefully bringing down DeVonta Smith on the sideline after a catch. Subsequently, a confrontation ensued between the Eagles’ security officer and Greenlaw.

Greenlaw pointed a finger at the officer, while the officer was also spotted showing his anger, necessitating the officials to intervene. The officials later announced the disqualification of both Greenlaw and DiSandro from the game.

Nevertheless,  in spite of getting tossed, the security officer got a heartfelt welcome from the Eagles fans, who honored him with a standing ovation before he left the field.

John Lund blasts Dom DiSandro’s Dre Greenlaw involvement

DiSandro, a familiar face with the Eagles since 1999, is often seen alongside head coach Nick Sirianni, continuing a tradition that spans coaching eras.  Following his controversial entrance into the game and being involved in an ugly battle with the player, John Lund has something to make the security officer recall.

Lund slammed Dom DiSandro for his unwanted and unwelcome entry on the field, raising questions about the Eagles’ depth, implying that the shortage of players led to the security officer’s unnecessary intervention.

“Why does a team that has 60 players in full combat gear, need a security guard standing next to the coach?.. What, is Kyle gonna have his son with him next game??”

The critique extends to Shanahan, the 49ers head coach, who expressed discontent, unable to fathom the interference of someone unrelated to the game, taunting players, and intruding on their space. This incident raises crucial questions about the involvement of non-players in on-field altercations.
