Antony hasn’t particularly set the Premier League on fire despite his early promise at Manchester United. In his debut season, he became the first United player to score in three consecutive Premier League games, but the former Ajax man has failed to replicate his early form.
While Antony continues to struggle for consistency this season, his personal life has hit the headlines, leading to a forced statement from the Brazilian. United have had to deal with the issue of domestic violence with Mason Greenwood, and Antony may be following a similar path after his ex-girlfriend accused him of domestic and verbal abuse.
Who is Antony’s ex-girlfriend Gabriela Cavallin? Explained
Born October 31, 2000, Gabriela Cavallin is originally from Brazil. She is a DJ and social media influencer, and the latter aspect seems to have been the cause of the friction between Anthony and his ex-girlfriend. Her wide social media following has made Cavallin a fashion icon and online persona.
Gabriela Cavallin was in an on-and-off relationship with Anthony between 2022 and 2023. She had remained with him in Amsterdam while the winger was playing for Ajax. Although the couple had announced that they were expecting a child, Cavallin posted that she had a miscarriage early on.
Brazilian national team dropped Antony over alleged domestic assault accusations
Antony released a statement yesterday, maintaining his innocence, and urging the relevant authorities to get to the root of this, assuring them of his co-operation during the entire investigation. “Out of respect for my fans, friends, and family, I feel obligated to speak publicly about the false accusations I have been a victim of,” he wrote on social media. “From the beginning, I have handled this issue seriously and with respect, providing the due clarifications to the police authority. I come to deny the accusations made and inform at the full disposal of the Brazilian authorities to clarify what is needed.”, his statement read.
Despite releasing a statement of his own, this didn’t stop the Brazilian national team from dropping Antony for the upcoming international games as the authorities continue their investigation. “In order to safeguard the alleged victim, the player, the Brazilian national team, and the CBF, the organization informs that Antony has been removed from the Brazilian national team,” the CBF announced.
Manchester United are yet to comment on the incident, but it’s only a matter of time before they do if the issue continues to drag further.
Will Antony be cleared of all wrongdoings and return to football as soon as possible?
