The 35-year-old Sergio Brown and his mother, Myrtle Brown, were reported missing in Maywood, Illinois, just as they were about to embark on a trip to Mississippi for a family reunion.
The news broke out soon after the member of the former NFL safety failed to reach them as they never showed up at the specified spot. His family sought assistance from netizens and the police department to find Sergio and his mother.
No information regarding the 35-year-old former player’s whereabouts has yet surfaced. However tragically, Brown’s mother was discovered dead in Addison Creek, not far from her Maywood residence on Saturday afternoon. The 73-year-old’s corpse was sent to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office.
Myrtle Brown’s sister, Sheila Simmons, told WGN that they had grave suspicions because Myrtle had never previously ignored her calls. She was definitely not prepared for the news that her sister had passed away when she learned of it the following morning.
“We’re going to find out what happened because it’s not normal for my sister to not answer her phone, not to respond to text messages. People have been reaching out to her since Friday. No one was able to reach her. Now, I got the call this morning saying that she’s missing, so immediately I came out here and find out my sister is dead.”
A homicide investigation is currently ongoing to examine the matter in more detail. For the most recent news updates, stay tuned.
