The 2023 NFL season is going in full swing, with the top teams like the Philadelphia Eagles, Detroit Lions, Kansas City Chiefs, and Miami Dolphins vying to secure the Super Bowl title. Meanwhile, teams like the Carolina Panthers, Chicago Bears, and New York Giants are going down day by day.
Individual players like Patrick Mahomes, Brock Purdy, and Kirk Cousins are also shining on the field to solidify the run for the Lombardi trophy. Meanwhile, a young player in the NFL, Justyn Ross, is having a hard time. When the whole football world is excited regarding the week 7 battle of the NFL, he is facing difficulty in his own world after getting embroiled in legal battles.
Who is Justyn Ross?
Justyn Ross is a 23-year-old wide receiver who headed to his NFL career after getting inked by the Chiefs in 2022 as an undrafted free agent out of Clemson. He showcased promising performance in the rookie training camp but sustained a foot injury later. The young star was later placed on injured reserve and couldn’t appear on the field for the entire season.
In this season, the offensive star has appeared in all seven games of the Chiefs while playing 17% of the team’s O-line snaps. He has caught three passes for 34 yards in those campaigns.
The 23-year-old was a protagonist in college football and pushed Clemson Tigers to earn the national championship back in 2018 by securing a 44-16 win over Alabama. In 2020, he was diagnosed with a congenital fusion condition in the neck and spinal area, something he was born with. The WR required career-threatening surgery, and the Chiefs were the only few NFL teams that stepped in to sign him despite his medical history.
Why was Justyn Ross arrested?
According to the Booking and Release Report on the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office website on Monday, Ross was detained at 2:54 p.m. in Shawnee, Kansas City due to the accusation of causing criminal damage in excess of $25,000. He was booked at 4:27 p.m. and was being held in the Johnson County Detention Center.
According to SI.com, this type of charge usually carries a level 7 felony classification in the city. The source also added that the Alabama native Monday arrest might be connected to potential domestic violence. As of now, no bond was set for him. Meanwhile, the Chiefs confirmed via ESPN on Monday evening that they had been aware of Justyn’s arrest, albeit they were unlikely to comment on the matter.
