Kylian Mbappe’s rise to the summit of global football is remarkable. From humble beginnings in Monaco to achieving god-like status at PSG and becoming the most sought-after player in the world, Kylian Mbappe has managed to make the impossible happen.
The world has been waiting for a Real Madrid-Mbappe link-up, and it makes more sense now that Real Madrid are currently playing without a recognized forward. However, the Frenchman’s mother, who also happens to be his agent, has reportedly been the stumbling block in his dream move to the Spanish capital to play for Europe’s most successful football club.
Fayza Lamari governs Mbappe’s future transfer
Kylian Mbappe has been flirting with Real Madrid for the past three transfer windows. The World Cup winner was on the verge of joining the Spanish giants in the summer of 2022, but a last-minute decision to sign another 2-year contract extension with Paris Saint-Germain broke Florentino Perez’s heart.
The 24-year-old again dominated the headlines in the last transfer window, rejecting every contract offer he got from PSG, which led to an initial banishment from the club. However, the club president softened his stance and made a U-turn, granting Mbappe access back to the first team.
Reports coming out of France suggest that Fayza Lamari, Kylian Mbappe’s super agent and mother, has been the one behind the player’s decision to stay put at PSG. The player’s mother has been his agent since he signed with WME Sports in 2022.
“Mbappe’s mother does not do the work of an agent,” Yvan Le Mee, the agent of Real Madrid’s Ferland Mendy, revealed. “She isn’t the one capable of it. The reality is that you have to do what you know how to do. I wanted to open a restaurant, but I don’t know how to cook, so I didn’t.
“It is one thing to look after your son and another thing entirely to offer your services to 20, 30 or 100 players. Agents are people who do deals. I am convinced that if Kylian Mbappe had had an agent when he was in talks with Real Madrid two years ago, he would already be there,” he concluded.
Kylian Mbappe, who has been tipped to join the elite group that houses Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, returns to club football when PSG host Strasbourg on Saturday.
Florentino Perez reacts to Mbappe’s request
Kylian Mbappe is Florentino Perez’s dream player. The World Cup winner worshipped Real Madrid’s Cristiano Ronaldo while growing up, filling his room with posters of the Portuguese star, so his connection with the club runs deep. However, both parties haven’t been able to make the move happen, despite some movements in the last two summers.
Florentino Perez continues to remain tight-lipped on Mbappe’s matters. The Real Madrid president refused to make any comment as Mbappe’s saga with PSG dragged on in the last transfer window.
PSG reportedly considered suing Real Madrid as they believed the Spanish giants approached a player who was under contract with the French side. It is important to note that while Mbappe has been reinstated in the PSG squad following his temporary banishment, he’s yet to commit to a new contract, and it is believed that the Frenchman plans to sign a pre-contract with Real Madrid in January, which is legally correct.
