Who is Luke Getsy, joining Antonio Pierce’s Raiders coaching staff?

The Las Vegas Raiders have already started gearing up for the upcoming season after not being able to qualify for the playoffs this year. The team has underperformed severely, which mandated a change of coaching and administration by the front office.

Now, after the appointment of head coach Antonio Pierce, the Raiders administration is looking to construct a team of veterans around their rookie HC to unlock the perfect mix of risk-taking and game management. Hence, they have now chosen to appoint Luke Getsy as their offensive coordinator for next season. Let’s find out more about the newest recruitment.

Who is Luke Getsy?

In 2014, Getsy started his training sessions with the Green Bay Packers, where he was initially an offensive quality control coach. In 2016, that changed when Getsy was elevated to the position of wide receiver coach and worked closely with Davante Adams, who is now one of the most consistent wide receivers on the Oakland Raiders. This role took him through college football in 2018, as he served as the offensive coordinator and wide receivers coach for the Mississippi State Bulldogs before returning to the Packers as the QB’s assistant after one season.

While the Patriots were interested in him, Getsy decided to join Antonio Pierce’s Las Vegas Raiders at the start of this year. When comparing this second chance of coordinating offenses on different teams and positions, it should be noted that he previously held such a role with the Chicago Bears; however, that did not exactly go according to plan.

Getsy set for Raiders OC role

Getsy is set to hit the ground running on his new oral with the Las Vegas Raiders and their totally new management setup. Working alongside Antonio Pierce will surely be a challenge for all the experienced folk around him, but that is one problem that should resolve once the team starts racking up the points on the board.

As soon as the news of this signing hit social media, the Raiders faithful approved of the decision. “Nice to see him on a team that wont waste his talents,” said one user, while another quipped, “Great hire for the #Raiders, Getsy really had no chance with the #Bears and should get a real chance to shine on #Vegas”

However, some fans vehemently disagreed with the decision of the franchise to sign Getsy as their new offensive coordinator due to his past record with the Bears.

What are your thoughts on the appointment of Luke Getsy alongside Antonio Pierce? Will he be able to flourish in this coaching setup? Let us know in the comments.
