The intimidation factor of steep competition and rigorous training often stops women from venturing into the motorsports industry. Nonetheless, the 22-year-old Spanish driver, Nerea Marti, is defying these norms and making a significant impact in the world of motorsports.
Recently, there have been reports of her securing a spot in the Formula One academy through a partnership with Tommy Hilfiger, causing a stir of excitement among her fanbase.
Who is Nerea Marti?
At the age of just 9 years old, Nerea Marti began karting through her father’s rental kart track. However, the Spanish driver’s career began in 2019, when she managed to secure a podium. She participated in the W Series for two consecutive seasons in 2021 and 2022 and secured additional podium places and pole positions before transferring to the F1 academy.
Along with having achievements in single-seater racing, she also clinched success in GT racing within the GT Winter Series, securing five victories and second place in the championship standings.
Currently, apart from her professional life, Nerea was also reported to be in a loving relationship with the footballer Hugo Duro, with the footballer celebrating the start of their relationship with an Instagram post captioned “She said ‘yes’ to continue going crazy together.”
Nerea Marti inks deal with Tommy Hilfiger to join F1 Academy grid
Recently, huge confirmation news came from the F1 Academy stating that Nerea will be participating in her second season in the series as she remains with Campos Racing. The 22-year-old will be witnessed as the official representative for F1’s Academy partner, Tommy Hilfiger, dressed in a racing suit and livery designed in the brand’s iconic red, white, and blue colour scheme.
Expressing her unwavering excitement in the media, Nerea said, “I am excited by Tommy Hilfiger’s approach for this season, and it’s amazing to wear their colours as we push the limits in every race.”
“By backing F1 Academy, he is standing behind female drivers and helping us break boundaries. Beyond the track, I’m looking forward to activities and events that will help me grow both professionally and personally.” By clinching victory in Le Castellet, she became the eighth race winner for the F1 Academy.
