Who is Panthers No.1 pick Bryce Young? Exploring rookie QB’s $38M deal

Every year many little dreams find their big nests through the NFL draft program. With the 2023 NFL draft held in April, many young players who used to play at the collegiate level, have found a scope to be a player of national level. This year, Bryce Young is the bright name -among them, heating the draft.

After finding a spot in the National Football League, Young signed a rookie deal with his team to solidify his position in the league. Let’s explore Panthers’ newest quarterback’s background and the 4-year deal he nabbed.

Who is Bryce Young?

This year’s NFL draft ceremony kicked off with the selection of Bryce as the No. 1 overall draft.  A 21-year-old boy, who was often faced with questions regarding his size, has made a debut at the national level throwing a punch to all his critics with the hand of the Carolina Panthers.

The rookie player had previously started for the University of Alabama for two seasons and had finished his undergraduate career with 80 touchdowns and 12 interceptions in 27 starts.Report: Bryce Young, Panthers Agree to 4-Year, $37.9M Guaranteed Rookie Contract | News, Scores, Highlights, Stats, and Rumors | Bleacher Report

Young declared his plan to go for the draft in January 2023 after ending his successful collegiate career since he knew he had demonstrated his abilities during that time. Fortunately, he didn’t have to endure too long to witness his dream triumph.

The product of California has got great confidence in his leadership and athletic ability, and he is now seeking to use those in the major leagues just as he did at the NFL Scouting Combine.

“For me, I really pride myself on my leadership. I know that’s something I have to earn at the next level. I’m really excited to … try to earn that trust and respect from that locker room. I know that’s not something I’m entitled to.”

Bryce Young inks $38M deal with Panthers

The Panthers traded two first-round picks and D.J. Moore to the Bears for taking Bryce. Now, the Heisman Trophy winner has officially listed his name on the Panthers roster after agreeing to terms on his 4-year fully guaranteed $37.96 million contract according to the report of NFL insider Ian Rapoport.

Additionally, his deal includes nearly $24.6M in a signing bonus that he gets up front. With having the former Alabama player as a great hope, the Panthers are dreaming of a comeback from all the setbacks that they endured in the 2022 season.  At home, the team was 5-4 while winning only two games on the road and being ranked 22nd in total defense with 349.8 yards allowed per game.

Young, who is only beginning his NFL career, might, however, have to face a heavy burden. Andy Dalton will start the season, as the team’s general manager stated, however in some cases, the rookie player may be considered the team’s starter.
