Often considered a football icon for his back-to-back titles including the First Team All-American (2004), the Doak Walker Award, the Walter Camp Player of the Year, the AP Player of the Year, and the Sporting News Player of the Year, Reggie Bush is now out of the football field and enjoying his career as an on-air college football analyst for Fox Sports.
Bush earned the prestigious Heisman Trophy in 2005, albeit the story after that was rather shaky as he got involved in a rather serious controversy. However, the veteran recently decided to clear the allegation and get back his lost honor.
Who is Reggie Bush?
Bush is a running back in the NFL who headed to his national football career after getting selected by the New Orleans Saints with the second overall pick in the 2006 NFL Draft. He won Super Bowl XLIV with the franchise by clinching a victory over the Indianapolis Colts back in 2010 and had stints with the Buffalo Bills, Miami Dolphins, Detroit Lions, and San Francisco 49ers before bidding adieu to his NFL career.
The 38-year-old former RB became an icon in the history of college football by helping USC to grab two national championship titles. With a 37-2 record throughout his three-year illustrious tenure in the Coliseum, he became the 34th Trojan to enlist his name in the College Football Hall of Fame.
Why did Reggie Bush file a lawsuit against the NCAA?
On Wednesday, Bush filed a defamation lawsuit against the NCAA due to a 2021 statement made by an NCAA spokesperson stating the veteran was involved in a “pay-for-play arrangement”. He shared the news in Wednesday’s press conference at Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum labeling the statement as completely baseless.
“Most recently, the NCAA has made a statement about me, accusing me of engaging in a pay-for-play arrangement, which is 100% not true. Not only is it not true, but there is no evidence to even support that claim.”

The two-time All-American reportedly asked the collegiate sports governing body to reinstate his records on the football field to get back his Heisman Trophy. He returned the trophy to the authorities after being accused of taking gifts from some marketing agents in California that included cash, travel expenses, and a home for his parents.
The veteran’s attorney Levi McCathern claimed he (Reggie) never got a dime from USC and neither was ever paid by a sponsor while filing a renewed petition with the NCAA to reinstate his collegiate records and honors.
