Who is Terrell Owens, NFL legend reportedly hit by car in California after pickup basketball game dispute?

The NFL has seen some of the most talented players to have graced the gridiron display their dominance in the league. Among those names, Terrell Owens stands out not only for the incredible feats he accomplished over the course of his 16-year NFL career, but also for the numerous off-field controversies he experienced, including his extravagant touchdown celebrations that repeatedly resulted in fines from the NFL front office.

Though he is no longer involved in any NFL games, Owens has suddenly returned to the public eye, albeit this time as a potential victim of a terrible car accident.

Who is NFL HOF Terrell Owens?

The San Francisco 49ers, which recently lost their “Undefeated” title of the season, had selected Terrell Owens in the third round of the 1996 NFL Draft, and marked the beginning of his NFL career. He played for the 49ers for seven seasons as one of their top receivers before being traded to the Philadelphia Eagles. He finished second in the 49ers record book in terms of receptions (592), yards (8,572), and touchdowns (81). Owens led the 49ers in receptions five times.

The six-time Pro Bowler spent two years with the high-flying Philadelphia Eagles before accepting a contract with the Dallas Cowboys in 2006. Owens ended his football career after three seasons with the Cowboys, spending one season each with the Buffalo Bills and Cincinnati Bengals.

According to the Pro Football Hall of Fame, the NFL icon was selected for the NFL’s All-Decade Team of the 2000s, has been named an All-Pro five times, and received an All-NFC choice four times.

While statistically ranking close to the top of every NFL receiving category, Owens was not elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in his first two years of eligibility because he had previously challenged the process used to choose Hall of Famers. Later, during his third year of eligibility, he was elected to the Hall of Fame.

Terrell Owens reportedly hit by car after pickup basketball game argument

It happened on Monday night when Terrell Owens got into a fight with someone on the basketball court. The man who had been fighting with Owens is reported to have driven his car right into the former wide receiver’s knee after the game ended.

The 49-year-old escaped the headlines with serious damage, yet the law enforcement officers took their spot on the scene immediately and filed a report for “assault with a deadly weapon”. As of Tuesday morning, Owens was not in need of medical attention, and no one had been charged.

However, the HOF himself made headlines as a perpetrator last year, due to a well-publicized altercation with a female neighbor. The neighbor claimed that Terrell was trying to scare her and had almost hit her with his car. Owens, however, was able to portray himself as innocent in the case, while someone else who was present was accused of purposefully giving the police false information.
