On Friday Night SmackDown this week, Rey Mysterio was defeated by Bobby Lashley in singles competition. Lashley was joined by The Street Profits, who were at his side. The heelish group weren’t just satisfied with the victory, as they laid out Joaquin Wilde and Cruz Del Toro, which set them up for a tag team match at Fastlane.
Last night on SmackDown, the United States Champion Rey Mysterio locked horns with The All-Mighty Bobby Lashley, who defeated The Master of 619. Meanwhile, The Street Profits unleashed a brutal beatdown on Cruz Del Toro and Joaquin Wilde, who were in Mysterio’s corner, thus taking them out of commission.
Rey Mysterio says “let me make a phone call” to build suspense
Following his defeat, Rey Mysterio announced to take on Bobby Lashley and The Street Profits at Fastlane in a six-man Tag Team match. However, Mysterio’s LWO members Del Toro and Wilde were put out of commission and are not cleared to compete at the event. With only Santos Escobar by his side, Rey Mysterio said that he would be making a phone call to find a replacement for his injured stablemates at Saturday’s PLE.
As of now, the scheduled Six-Man Tag Team match between Rey Mysterio, Santos Escobar and a mystery third partner vs Bobby Lashley and The Street Profits is still confirmed to be happening. Considering that Del Toro and Wilde are out of the equation, it’s possible that the Hall of Famer would bring in a big name for his match and is currently keeping the WWE Universe in suspense.
Possible third man for LWO
Throughout the course of his long career, Rey Mysterio has made many allies and friends in WWE. It shouldn’t be a problem for the Hall of Famer to find a replacement for his injured teammates. That being said, there are about three possible superstars who The Master of 619 can bring in for his upcoming match.
Puerto Rican rapper Bad Bunny, who previously helped Mysterio in his match against Dominik at WrestleMania 39, would be a pretty obvious choice, considering he was in pretty good shape while competing at Backlash this year. However, considering his status, WWE would’ve announced his appearance to generate hype for the event. NXT superstar Dragon Lee would also be a good choice, considering his recent momentum on the main roster. Furthermore, Lee had an interaction with Mysterio backstage on SmackDown earlier this year.
By far the most sensible option for the mystery partner would be the former Intercontinental Champion Carlito. He made an appearance at Backlash this year, where he helped Bad Bunny in his match against Damian Priest. Carlito looked in a pretty great shape during his appearance, as he gave a tough fight to Finn Balor and Dominik Mysterio. It was also being reported that Carlito had signed with WWE and was apparently awaiting for a chance to make his debut. Competing at Fastlane, alongside Rey Mysterio would be the perfect place to bring him in.
It would be the best option for WWE to have Carlito return alongside Rey Mysterio at Fastlane as his mystery third man. However, we would have to wait till Saturday to see if he does end up making an appearance. Stay tuned to get further updates on Rey Mysterio and the LWO.
