ESPN conducted its fourth edition of surveying NFL executives, coaches, scouts, and players to create a list of the 10 best players at 11 different positions in national football. The Kansas City Chiefs young quarterback Patrick Mahomes overshadowed everyone to rank first in the top 10 QB list.
Jeremy Fowler had several ties for some positions and it was later fixed by additional voting as well as follow-up calls with more than 80 voters. Till now, the list of top 10 off-ball linebackers, defensive tackles, edge rushers, cornerbacks, safeties, tight ends, running backs, offensive tackles, guards and centres, quarterbacks, and wide receivers has been published.

Mahomes just earned a Super Bowl by beating the Philadelphia Eagles, marking their second Vince Lombardi trophy in the last four seasons. His 77.6 QBR was marked six-plus points higher than that of any other player in the position and he is also leading all signal-callers with an 87.3 QBR.

An AFC scout heaped praise on him, saying he has a combination of all the skills of a great QB.
“He’s got everything needed from a great quarterback, and he does those things at a high level all of the time.”
Amid his multiple accomplishments, the Chiefs veteran is the fastest QB in the history of the league to record 10,000 career passing yards in just 34 career games, breaking the record of Hall of Fame QB Kurt Warner’s earlier mark of earning so in 36 career games.
Patrick helped his squad to overcome a 10-point deficit in the last Super Bowl and hence, an NFL offensive coach raved about him saying he illuminates more in crucial situations.
“He’s accurate when uncomfortable, which is probably the hardest thing to do in the NFL. The game just slows down to the point where he’s at his best in the chaos.”

What is Patrick Mahomes contract with the Chiefs?
After heading to the NFL as the 10th overall pick of the Chiefs in the first round of the 2017 NFL Draft, Pat sent shockwaves by signing a 10-year, $450 million deal including guaranteed money worth up to $141.482 million. He signed the contract back in July 2020 and it will run through the 2031 season.
While a $450M contract is undoubtedly very lucrative, many argue that he was undervalued in the deal. Despite the two-time MVP being the best QB in the league currently, his per-year average contract salary of $45 million is seventh in the NFL.
Nevertheless, the football star himself addressed the issue several times in the past and said he is charging less money to let his team surround him with better troops on the field, much like the NFL GOAT Tom Brady. Albeit, the Chiefs were rumored to revisit the contract a few days ago as acknowledged by the team’s general manager Brett Veach earlier this offseason.
With a new NFL season knocking at the door, it remains to be seen if Mahomes can lead his team to another Super Bowl victory and grab the top position in the list beating other veteran QBs of the league, again!
