The Green Bay Packers and Cincinnati Bengals have faced off 14 times in their rivalry, with a 7-7 tie in the overall series so far. These stats show why the hostility can go so high in a game between them, which occasionally leads to severe verbal and physical altercations.
The Packers and Bengals will square off against each other in Week 1 of the NFL Preseason on August 11 at Paycor Stadium. However, players from both teams already seem to have become embroiled in a heated argument that ultimately resulted in the removal of one Packers player.
Elgton Jenkins reportedly ejected from Packers-Bengals joint practice
In preparation for their game on Friday, the Packers team traveled to Cincinnati on Wednesday to train with the Bengals. Players on both teams appear to have high hopes for their clubs to prevail in the match. As a result, some conflict was anticipated, but things went out of hand real quick.
Elgton Jenkins was dismissed from the practice after twice getting into a physical altercation with two Bengals players. The Bengals’ Germaine Pratt was knocked to the ground by Elgton when Pratt appeared to object to Jenkins’ behavior, which started the first brawl that was officially documented.
The second incident involved Ekgton hitting DJ Reader before being led away from the practice area by a member of his crew.
That scrum went on for a while. Jenkins was majorly pissed and several fights broke out in the scrum. https://t.co/l4p5LoZjP9

After the practice, Reader slammed Jenkins for his outburst. DJ accused the offensive lineman of having less concern about practice and also dragged the whole Green Bay team asserting them as frustrated.
“Yeah, but you know, that’s how it goes when guys don’t wanna practice,” Reader said sarcastically. “They don’t want to get better. And they’re frustrated and got hands put on them the first time, so they’re going to take it out on somebody else, and then you don’t really be accurate. You punch so light that your head don’t move. It’s tough.”
The practice session finished with these undesired movements which will likely ignite the excitement of both the team’s fans ahead of Friday’s game.
Jenkins has agreed to a $68 million Packers deal
Jenkins and the Packers reached an agreement on a four-year, $68 million contract deal in December 2022 that could be worth up to $74 million. The 27-year-old was also rumored to be the second-highest-paid guard in the NFL, along with receiving a $24 million signing bonus as part of the agreement.
Jenkins played four different positions on the line for the Green Bay team: 36 at LG, 8 at LT, 6 at RT, and 3 at C. During his four seasons with the franchise, he has volunteered to fill in pretty much any position whenever needed without complaining while also putting on an impressive show most of the time.
However, Reader sternly warned him about the Friday game after the altercation. It will be interesting to watch how Elgton responds to the Eagles players’ threats.
