Why did F1 fans outraged over AlphaTauri displaying the controversial rising sun banner before Japanese GP?

AlphaTauri F1 is a team known for its vibrant poster designs for the races every season. Fans always love to see the varied combinations of art and graffiti they display on their social media. AlphaTauri released a new poster as per their traditions again, this time for Japanese GP.

However, this time they were met with a lot of resistance because of an erroneous and controversial point in their graphic imagery. The race holds a special place for AlphaTauri since their driver Yuki is famous in Japan. This new controversy could tarnish the image of the team.

Why did F1 fans outraged over AlphaTauri’s controversial rising sun banner before Japanese GP?

After AlphaTauri released their banner for the Japanese GP, people noticed that the rising sun logo of the banner resembled the logo used by Japan during World War 2. Given, that Japan was an aggressor in WW2 and it suffered a huge scar owing to the nukes dropped by America, fans clearly didn’t like this depiction.

josh??? (evil era) commented on it’s implications,

It seems like in the banner released earlier, AlphaTauri used 8 lines in the rising sun logo. The fact that this sign is owed to the war crimes of the times gone by, people didn’t receive it well at all. Japan is also the race of the Power Unit supplier Honda, which means the implications were much higher for the team even though they didn’t mean any harm.
