LeBron James received a technical foul after scoring a great double-handed dunk in his match against the Cleveland Cavaliers. In the fourth quarter of the game, the Lakers’ young rising star Austin Reaves spotted a great space to pass the ball to James and did so. James being as great as he is easily and quickly got past the man guarding him to receive the pass from Reaves.
He swiftly drove to the basket, leaping into the air and forcefully slamming the ball into the basket with both hands—a powerful dunk deserving of applause. However, soon after this feat, James received a technical foul.
The reason behind it was a rule prohibiting players from performing a pull-up on the basket rim. This rule seemed to have slipped James’ mind as he engaged in a pull-up on the rim after scoring, leading to a technical foul instead of appreciation.
Fans ridicule NBA over LeBron’s technical foul
After the video of Bron getting a technical foul in the game against the Cavs surfaced on the internet, the fans ridiculed the NBA for the rule under which Bron was booked. The rule already had a negative reaction in the community when it was introduced. Fans called it a useless, unnecessary, and game-spoiling change.
One fan posted the video and captioned it, “LeBron James received a technical foul because of unnecessary and stupid rule. The NBA is becoming a no-fun league.”
While it’s true that the rule may not contribute significantly to the essence of basketball and seems unnecessary, viewing it from another perspective suggests it might have been implemented to save time or protect the rims from damage during a game.
