Hulk Hogan, one of the legendary figures in the wrestling industry, dedicated most of his years to the betterment of WWE. In his prime time, Hogan appeared in a lot of Hollywood movies and got a lot of global recognition for his performances on those projects.
Not so long ago, Hollywood Hogan revealed the story when Paramount Studios approached him to pursue acting and be the next John Wayne. The story was shared by the Hulkmania after he appeared in an interview to share his journey of being a Godly man.
Why did Hulk Hogan reject Paramount Studios’ offer?
WWE Hall of Famer Hulk Hogan had been an icon for several generations before he retired from wrestling. Recently the wrestling icon revealed a golden opportunity that he missed to pursue wrestling as his main career. During the interview With TBN, Hogan also talked about his wrestling career and a potential chance to be the next Paramount Studios star.
“Once the wrestling took off, and the character Hulk Hogan became as big as the wrestling business at the time, people were reaching out to me, you know to do other projects. Commercials, Superbowl commercials, Right Guard commercials, all kinds of stuff. And the movies were a logical extension.”
Hulk reminisced that he was once offered to a be the next John Wayne. He added that Bob Evans, who ran Paramount, approached him with a proposal that was a lifetime opportunity. “You know, and I had the chance to become like the next John Wayne. There’s a guy named Bob Evans, that ran Paramount.”
He further added, “And he took me in his office and there was a big picture on the wall with Clint Eastwood and John Wayne and all the big stars Dustin Hoffman and everybody that was part of the contract players for Paramount at the time. And he said, ‘You’re gonna be my next John Wayne.’ And then he kind of like laid out the schedule and what was expected of me on and off camera. I went, ‘I am the wrong guy for that stuff.’ So I just decided to go back to wrestling.”
Has Hulk Hogan ever been featured in Hollywood movies?
Hulk Hogan stunned the wrestling world when he appeared for the first time in a Hollywood movie. In 1982, Hogan’s Hollywood movie career began with “Rocky III,” where he starred alongside Sylvester Stallone. He played a wrestler named Thunderlips, and the role was akin to a cameo appearance. That brief spotlight gradually elevated him to appear in more movies.
Hogan’s another memorable movie is No Holds Barred (1989). It was a wrestling-centric movie, starring Hogan as the lead and Tommy Lister as the antagonist. Former WWE chairman Vince McMahon supported Hulk at the time when the script for the movie was written. Some other movies featuring Hulk Hogan include Spy Hard (1996), Muppets from Space (1999), Gremlins 2: The New Batch (1990), and 3 Ninjas: High Noon at Mega Mountain (1998).
Hulk Hogan, who is a real-life superhero, was baptized not long ago and since then he has turned to the path of God. The former wrestler has even confessed his sins in several interviews and even asked forgiveness from the people he had hurt in the past.
