Why Former Bear DE Robert Quinn arrested in Summerville? Investigating his reported hit-and-run, assault and other charges

After being drafted as the 14th pick of the then-St. Louis Rams in 2011, veteran pass-rusher Robert Quinn established himself as a key weapon of the franchise. He spent a whole month on the injured-reserve list last December since the free agency period started and no team approached him in the meantime.

Robert most recently made six appearances with the Philadelphia Eagles before having stints with the Miami Dolphins, Dallas Cowboys, and Chicago Bears. He earned the All-Pro accolade with the Rams in 2013 after recording 19 sacks (career-high) as well as 23 tackles for loss (league-high) and made it again for the second time in 2021 after tallying 18.5 sacks donning Bears jersey.

Robert Quinn arrested and charged with multiple alleged charges

Quinn was charged by the South Carolina police and booked in Dorchester County Jail as he crashed his truck into four vehicles and a gate in South Carolina on Tuesday. He was also alleged of assaulting a woman who filed a property damage allegation against the NFL player.

The 33-year-old vet is set to face seven charges ranging from “third-degree assault and battery, to hit-and-run with property damage, and four counts of leaving the scene after a traffic incident.”

Lisa Ball, a local, said the footballer was not cooperative at all and alleged he slapped her twice following some arguments.

“He was very belligerent. He kept saying ‘Oh don’t worry about it I’ll buy you new cars, I’ll buy you new car, let’s go to the dealership,’ I told him to get off my property and he proceeded to put his hands on me, and slap me not once but twice.”

The defensive end turned himself in on Friday after attending a bond hearing and was given a $155 personal recognizance bond.

NFL community reacts to Robert Quinn’s Summerville arrest

The NFL community was quick to react to the alleged accusation of the free agent.

Buffalo’s player Darron Lee was arrested in April this year due to the allegations of attacking his mother and wife The franchise’s other star Alex Carrington was arrested in 2022 due to multiple allegations and some fans took subtle digs at the Bills squad following Quinn‘s arrest.

A user wrote, “Common Bears activity.”

The Philly star Ben Simmons used to receive criticism from his fellow teammates from the team as Shaun Bradley and Jason Kelce repeatedly called him out several times.

A netizen drew a comparison of the Eagles veteran saying, “Crazy what playing in Philadelphia will do to a man 🤔 first Ben Simmons now this?”

A user said the pass-rusher didn’t appear to be violent when he met him personally.

Meanwhile, this is not the first time the Pro Bowler got embroiled in a legal battle as he had to plead guilty after failing to exercise a high degree of care and eventually had to pay a $277 fine back in 2012. Just a month following this case, he faced another legal trouble after crashing a car in Missouri and got charged with the allegations of “driving while intoxicated and driving without insurance.”
