The Las Vegas GP is just around the corner and the FIA is not leaving any stone unturned to make it a grand success. The Las Vegas GP is a new circuit incorporating the famous Vegas strip as F1 tries to extend its reach in America. However, the race has been riddled with its own issues that keep the threat of cancellation alive.
Las Vegas GP has been receiving mixed reactions from fans and drivers, and in spite of all the hype built around it, Max Verstappen refuses to consider Las Vegas a big thing and just wants to get it over with already.
Vegas residents slam FIA’s track management
The Las Vegas GP circuit was built with the iconic structures of Vegas in mind and to give the fans an exotic view of the ‘City of Lights’. The track encompasses many of the famous attractions to encourage viewers to buy tickets for the penultimate race of the 2023 season. However, FIA’s management has enraged the public in Las Vegas.
FIA spends an incredible amount of money conducting a Formula 1 race and aptly tries to increase its viewer engagement for the same. But, since the Vegas circuit is a street track, there were many features that were shut down by FIA, including the iconic fountains. There are numerous overhead bridges and grandstands constructed on the streets that have caused discomfort to the public. However, the worst happened when FIA put up privacy screens to block the view of the race for free and to stop anyone from getting a bird’s-eye view of the track.
This move invited many people to vandalize the privacy screens and protest against FIA, whose footage has gone viral on social media. The caption included the concerns of the people regarding FIA’s maneuvers.
“The people of Las Vegas have spoken! Voiced their protest against the organizers of the Formula One race. The organizers had put privacy screen wraps over all the glass bridges to stop locals and tourists from watching the race.”
“However, the passers-by were clearly unhappy with this move as it blocked their view of the Sphere. Especially when tourists are here for just a few days, they want to get that perfect shot. While some people don’t care to watch the Formula One race, they do want to see the Sphere!”
FIA’s conduct seems to have attracted a lot of negative attention from viewers, alongside the recent worker protests and ticket cancellations, coupled with a ridiculous decrease in hotel prices.
Social media disapproves of the new circuit
The people of Vegas aren’t the only ones criticizing the new F1 circuit, as social media took it upon themselves to troll the track layout of the new circuit. There is a massive uproar about the new Las Vegas GP Strip circuit and its awkward layout.
The biggest concern among people so far has been the weird pit exit right into a turn and the overwhelmingly long and numerous straights. The fandom has called out the FIA for not returning to legendary tracks like Hockenheimring and Malaysia and instead creating ugly tracks like the Las Vegas GP circuit.
