Why is Las Vegas GP getting close to abandon F1 tradition by getting rid of the name ‘Paddock’?

Despite Max Verstappen confirming his third consecutive World Championship title in last week’s Qatar GP, the Formula One action for the 2023 calendar year isn’t quite over yet. The next race, named the Las Vegas GP, is scheduled to take place soon in one of the most exciting places in the world.

The city has some of the most lavish arrangements for witnessing the entire event, from gorgeous monuments to splurging preparations prepared by the organizers. An example of such a classy arrangement is the Paddock Club, which has the best seats available for the upcoming F1 event.

What is Paddock Club in Las Vegas GP?

What’s the fun if you’re not enjoying one of the most exotic cities throughout the entire world? Las Vegas has a wide population and is known for its lively atmosphere with a dazzling nightlife filled with various sources of entertainment.

The Paddock Club is known for having an iconic view from the seats above the team garages that one will remember for their entire lifetime. From the cars lining up for lights to every pit stop, the club provides an outstanding view of it all. It is located inside the pit building, situated on their recently acquired 39-acre piece of land next to Las Vegas Boulevard.

It serves as the focal point of the Las Vegas Strip Circuit™ and attracts a larger crowd than any other area. Many celebrities attend the show from various parts of the world; therefore, some people may even get lucky enough to meet their favorite celebrities at the event.

Why is Las Vegas GP getting rid of the name ‘Paddock’?

However, the organizers of the Las Vegas GP have decided that this time, the “paddock” name will be replaced and instead, “Pit Building” will be used as long as the event is going on.

The change in name can be traced back to an event in 2017 when an individual named Stephen Paddock attacked a crowd at a festival on the Las Vegas Strip, resulting in the  injuries to 867 others and the deaths of 60 other individuals.

Therefore, the organizers were hesitant to continue the show by the same name, which killed many individuals. Therefore, the experts have decided to finally change the name of the show to be less ominous and more enjoyable for the audience present there.

A spokesman for the GP has said, “The Las Vegas Grand Prix empathizes with this sensitive topic in the community, and as such has always intended to announce an alternate name for our complex that will feature F1 activations, food & beverage, merchandise stores, event space and more throughout the year.
