Why is the Undertaker afraid of cucumbers? Revealing the bizarre weakness of the Phenom

There’s no doubt that the Undertaker is one of the toughest men in the history of the wrestling industry. He has been known to wrestle with injuries and other adversities. He was one of the most charismatic wrestlers in the locker room. His presence was enough to motivate his opponents to give their best performance.

However, despite his tough persona, rumors have circulated for a long time that the Undertaker is afraid of cucumbers and this rumor has been validated by his wife.

Reason for bizarre fear of The Undertaker

The Undertaker has been the subject of an urban myth for years, with claims that he has a fear of cucumbers. His wife, Michelle McCool, has recently confirmed the rumors and revealed their origin in an interview on the “Wives of Wrestling” podcast.

She mentioned that her husband is afraid of cucumbers because he ate too many once, became sick and has not been able to eat them again since. She also shared that their daughter, Kaia Faith, enjoys playing pranks on her father by hiding cucumbers around the house to scare him.

“He ate so many cucumbers one day that he got sick. And ever since then, it was just game over. We can’t even have one in the room. Every birthday, [daughter] Kaia gets cucumbers. She’ll like to put them under his pillow; she’ll put them in his car. Cucumbers—he can’t even smell them; he can’t even be around them,” said Michelle McCool.

However, The Phenom has tried to downplay his fear of cucumbers in the past while giving an interview on the “Pardon My Take” podcast, insisting he isn’t frightened, but Michelle clearly thinks otherwise.

Mick Foley validated the fact through first-hand experience

WWE Hall of Famer Mick Foley was once asked about the rumor of The Undertaker’s fear of cucumbers in an interview with “Inside The Ropes”. Foley did not take long to confirm the rumor as he revealed this fact about his buddy.

“I know this is supposed to be an original show and it’s not like I should be quoting other wrestlers but when it comes to that rumor, it’s true. It’s damn true,” said Mick Foley.

Mick Foley shared a story about the time Paul Bearer betrayed The Undertaker in August 1996. According to Mick, both wrestlers had great chemistry and the storyline was building up extremely well.

However, on the night of the match, Paul was uncharacteristically silent and did not speak a word until they made their way out to the ring. Even when The Undertaker made his grand entrance, Paul remained quiet. But as the lights came back on, Paul opened his mouth to reveal a slice of cucumber on his tongue to The Deadman. This unexpected move put The Undertaker stunned in the middle of the ring.

“Paul Bearer opens his mouth to reveal a slice of cucumber on his tongue, at which point The Deadman literally starts dry heaving in the middle of the ring. It is the closest I can even conceive of Superman being handled [with] a chain of kryptonite. It was unbelievable he had to take a powder, as we say, and I was like what the hell is going on here it’s like Undertaker is afraid of cucumbers,” said Mick Foley.
